Vehicle Detail

Up for a no reserve auction is a very rare 1968 TR4A. (From 1965-1968 25,390 TR4As were mfg. & imported to the US, 12 were issued 1968 titles, this is one of them!) It is Mfg’s Serial No. CTC78195LO. The odometer reads 37723 miles. I purchased it in 1977 and drove it for a little over one year when it was in a minor accident. I purchased a parts car for the repair parts and paid someone to make the repairs. Unfortunately they did a lousy job. The frame was straight but the passenger side shock tower was bent slightly. The person doing the repair did not straighten it during the repair. Several years later I decided to take it apart and fix it properly myself. 20 + years later it still sits disassembled. I still have all of the parts as shown in the photo. Some are original to the car and some are from the parts car. At one point after the repair and before I took it apart the overdrive transmission failed. My parts car did not have overdrive, but to keep the '68 drive-able I swapped out the transmissions, thinking I could have it rebuilt and reinstalled later. Unfortunately over the years the original transmission has been lost. I still have the original shift assembly and the overdrive unit. I also have the Windshield assembly from the parts car (see last photo). This auction includes the car and described spare parts, also included is an extra wood dashboard and a steel Triumph rim. When it was parked the engine was strong but now I am sure it would need to be rebuilt. The frame is solid, but as you can see in the photos the body has developed some rust issues. At this point the interior would need to be redone and the top replaced. A few years ago the driver side door glass broke and would need replacement. I reinstalled the spring, shock, and tire for purpose of car removal, but the repair to the shock tower has not been made. The front wheels turn freely, but the rear wheel brake drums have seized up. The buyer is responsible for car removal, I would strongly recommend a trailer and winch. The 30+ year old tires hold air but would probably not survive a tow. I can be available to assist with loading.
