Vehicle Detail
Hello, and thanks in advance for your time in checking out my Charger! I bought this car from a gentleman in Des Moines, Ia, in November of 2004. He acquired the car from a guy in the Waterloo Ia area in Sept of 1998. The owner in Waterloo had purchased it from another guy in that area a couple years prior. When I took possession of the Charger, it was a medium red, black vinyl top, and aluminum slot wheel with bias tires. The 3rd owner back, had the motor professionally built and actually raced the car. He had the roll bar installed, and the longer studs on the back wheels to meet the race strips code. The motor was built in the early 90's as far as I've been told. The 440 is the original numbers matching motor from the factory. It has a mild Edelbrock cam, lifters, intake, and dual exhaust with headers. Over July 4th weekend, I installed the dual Edelbrock 500cfm carbs.Within the last year, I've installed a new Year One radiator, alternator, oem starter, distributor cap, coil, and plugs. The transmission is a 727 Torqueflight 3 speed automatic. The car is an original floor shift automatic. The numbers on the pan rail of the tranny do not match the cars VIN, so to the best of my knowledge, this is not the tranny the car was built with. It was serviced here by a local transmission shop about a year ago. They did a flush, new fluid and filter, bands tightened and everything adjusted up. They also made new tranny cooler lines with quick disconnects. The tranny is tight and shifts really nice. The Rear end is a Richmond posi with a 3.91 ratio. I pulled the gears out last year, visually inspected them and the inside of the pumpkin, and re-installed everything. I've never had any issues with the rear-end before or after this little task. Brakes...new drum brakes all the way around last year. I also put new Timken bearings in the front end. Glass...Windshield is new a couple years ago, but caught a rock and has a crack it it from the bottom driver corner up about 8". Doesn't affect vision at all, but its there. Door windows are great and work, to include the vent windows. Rear glass is really nice and looks original. Body...Body is solid with very few issues. There are no door dings in the sides, top is flawless, hood and door corners are clean and straight. All the body lines match up really nice. There is some filler in the rear quarters. I have new Year One quarters that go with the car. The doors, hood, and trunk lid all shut nice and tight. The truck floor pan has 1 small are where you can see thru (check out youtube video). Driver side floor pan was newly installed before I got the car. Frame rails are good, clean, and straight. Paint...The car was painted in the summer of 2004, General Lee badging put on July of 2005. The paint is ok. The color of the car is 1969 code R4 (bright red). Pull the GL stickers off, add the vinyl top with an RT stripe and have you'd have it back to original. All the chrome on the car is original and really super nice for a 43 year old car. One piece was broke when the car was being painted. I have a 14 minute video of the car on Youtube that I recommend you check out. I will try to add the link. It's also on Craigslist in Omaha, Ne area, under 1969 Charger. Car has the correct VIN on the block, radiator support, fender tag, dash pad, and under the trunk lid molding. I have a video confirming these location as well. Trouble spots with the Charger. Once again, WATCH THE YOUTUBE VIDEO...it points everything out SPECIFICALLY!!! 14 minute walk around video ... youtube.com/watch?v=jca0aqDYwrQ VIN locations, 4:30 minute video... youtube.com/watch?v=nFauchKpJF0&feature=channel&list=UL (You have to add the www. to the video addresses). I will email you the links if needed. ...Occasionally (more times than not) the following item don't work as they should: turn signals, wipers, headlight doors, dash gauges !!!!! PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEOS !!!!! I have tried to cover everything. Do not hesitate to call or e-mail with question.
