Vehicle Detail
1966 Mustang coupe for auction. Originally came with a 289/C4. I bought the car in 1997 and drove it daily. In 1998, the 289 gave out and the car was stored until 2005, when I installed a 5.0L/AOD transmission. Fuel injection…starts and runs great. If you want all the details of that job, I can send you an email with all the details. Car is painted the original color, though it is not the original paint. I do believe the interior is original, though the carpet appears to be dyed. There is a seam on the driver’s seat that is coming apart. The rear end was replaced in 2010, changed from stock Ford to a Currie 9 inch, limited slip set up. Gear ratio changed from 2.8/3.0 ( can’t remember which) to a 3.55. Car is loads of fun to drive, and with the AOD, gets relatively good gas mileage. With the 3.55, plenty of power if that’s what you like. Cragar SS rims, tires have about 4 years and 17K miles on them. Radio is a Pioneer AM/FM cd player, with an amp in the trunk, and nice speakers in the back. Paint is in fair shape. Could use a good buff job. There are a few rust bubbles on the trunk that will need to be addressed at some point. I have garaged the car ever since I owned it. I’ve been all over this car, and there are parts of it that I just can’t believe are 46 years old. Floor pans are solid. Quarter panels are good. I can tell that the lower door edges have some bondo on them. Cowl does not leak. The frame rail under the battery will have to be replaced at some point. Suspension was replaced in 2005. New front and rear springs, new suspension arms and bushings up front. SSBC front discs installed 2007, with a dual master cylinder. Transmission works great, engine runs great. All lights work. I have installed gauges under the dash for volts, oil pressure, water temp. Oil pressure and water temp gauges in dash aren’t hooked up. Car is totally reliable and dependable. I’ve driven it from Atlanta to Ohio and back, North Carolina and back, Texas and back. Feel free to ask any questions you like. On Aug-30-12 at 17:25:41 PDT, seller added the following information: To clarify the rust issues: Floor pans are solid, as I said. Quarter panels have had small rust holes that were repaired before I bought the car. In the passenger rear quarter panel, inside the trunk, you can see a piece of fiberglass that was used as the backing for body filler. The area that was worked on/filled is about 3"X5". I've put a magnet all over the panel, there is very little of it that isn't metal. The frame rail under the battery will have to be replaced at some point, as the frame rail corner at the front end, passenger side, is pretty eaten up with rust. That's the worst part of the car, body wise, but it's the frame, not the body. The rest of the frame rails are pretty good. The lower front of both doors have some body filler, as the the rear lower front fenders. I took pictures of these areas, but they didn't turn out that great. This is the first Mustang that I've had with frame rail problems. It's just at the front passenger side of the car though. There is surface rust, only surface rust, on some of the underbody, but nowhere is it flaking type rust, except for the seams in the trunk, in the pictures I've posted. Any more questions, ask.
