240,000 miles sounds like a lot, but think of it as 400,000 kilometers. Or 9-1/2 times around the equator. Or maybe just consider that it is one owner, no serious accidents and lots of recent, routine maintenance (with receipts for most of the maintenance). This year- tires, battery, timing belt, water pump, front end parts, etc. Everything works. And it works rather better than it looks, although it looks okay. No rust, no huge dents. But it's ten years old and spent much of its life parked in a deck where everybody else belonged to the "dent of the month" club. And at ten years old it will groan, creek and boom when a new car won't. It's not a new car. The top of steering wheel (whereat the missus gripped it) is loose. The ignition switch failed so there are separate keys to start and to open the doors (the remote works fine, though), the lovely bride had that gynormous bike rack's pin tack welded onto the receiver hitch (although I must admit, it does not rattle and is robust enough hang off the bow of an ice breaker), many of the plastic trim pieces are beat up, etc etc. Again, it's not a new car, but if you can find a one owner AWD vehicle for much less than this is likely to go for, you should buy it. It doesn't leak anything, smoke, ping or use oil. Everything works, near as we can tell.
