The 1989 model has the nice painted bumpers and has a sleeker look. I have searched for a long time to find this car and will miss it dearly. It was purchased new on March 20, 1989 from Peter Pan BMW in San Mateo California. It was over 32k brand new. I have the original purchase contract from new. I am the second owner and have owned the car for almost 2 years now. It has been garaged and well kept from new. A careful meticulous owner from Hillsborough CA. Serious maintenance records from local independent european shop. All services were done properly and on time. A very thick file of records and manuals are included. Recently I have spent money on the following services.- 4 Brand new tires (last month)-New front brakes and rotors (last month)-New timing belt, water pump, spark plug wires, adjusted valves (8 mos)-Replace center bearing (8 mos)-Flush cooling system (8mos)-Serviced AC system ( new o rings, 134a recharge, replace blower motor and resistor (last month)-Replaced air flow meter and idle control valve. (last month)-New battery (8mos) The car has a few small upgrades but nothing serious. This car was meant to remain stock but car has a few small additions:1. Koni adjustable shocks2. Mcintosh amplifier and EQ, Alpine radio w ipod connect and Velodyne premium subwoofer 3. Upgraded headlights4. Cupholders5. Powder coated manifold black.6. Dinan installed chip & free flow exhaust $1400 at Dinan service dept. Other than the car is a beauty and runs perfect. She is strong and healthy. Passes smog super clean. Starts right up immediately. Clutch is fine and has lots of life left. The paint and leather is excellent and shows very little wear. One tiny rust spot size of a quarter near wiper-see pic. No other rust on body at all! Seats are conditioned with Leatherique leather conditioner and are still soft and supple. All windows, sunroof, and electronics (lights, speedo, odometer, signals) are working properly.
