Vehicle Detail
1973 Mercury Cougar XR7 convertible, salvage title (see more below), professionally restored. 351 Cleveland V8 engine with less than 20,000 miles on it since rebuild, 4 barrel Edelbrock carburetor and intake manifold, FMX Automatic Transmission, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows, Power Top with solid window, Tilt Wheel, Sequential Taillights. Yellow car with tan canvas top, tan door panels, and brown all-leather upholstery. I purchased the car in 1987 and later had it restored by Magnolia Auto Body. I spent ~ $30K on the restoration instead of my 401K. ($24K on body & drive train, $3K on upholstery, $2K on the convertible top) The car runs great. You are welcome to contact The Dyno Shop in Santee California to ask about the car and the maintenance history. Ask for Derek. All seats were reupholstered with brown, full grain leather. Large piece of remaining, matching hide included with the car. Always garaged. The tan canvas top has never felt a rain drop. The car has correct radio installed as you'll see in the pictures, but it doesn’t work. Also, we took the a/c off during the restoration. One less belt to turn. I've owned, restored, and enjoyed two of these cars over the last 30 years. Sold the other last year to happy buyers in New York. It's time to move on - and quit renting a garage from my neighbor. To new ebay bidders: If you have less than 10 ebay transactions or less than 95% positive feedback, please contact me before bidding. Otherwise I will cancel those bids. Salvage Title: I bought the car 25 years ago with a salvage title. I drove it home, registered it the next day, and drove it for years with only typical maintenance & repairs. After my first '73 Cougar restoration, I pressed on and restored this car, too. It is a "revived salvage" and the title is branded "salvage". In California, Salvage title means that an insurance company "totalled" the car (some time before I bought it). I don't know the car's history from it's manufacture in the early 70s til that wonderful day in 1987 when I bought it. Before bidding, interested bidders who don't live in California should look into how your state treats salvage titles. I have many "before" pictures if you'd like to see them. I encourage personal inspection of the car. Thank you and happy bidding.
