Vehicle Detail
California car shipped to East Coast in 2005. Previous owner set-up the car for Porsche Club Driving Education (DE) and Street use. I purchased and shipped the car with the plan of continuing to use it as a learning platform for DE, working towards my PCA Club Racing License. In 5 years of ownership, I have put only 5k miles on the car and managed 1 day of DE. Family and business demands leave no time (!) for this pursuit so I am giving up the sport and selling this great car. PPI’s from local Porsche techs welcome. Mechanical Updates (have rec’s from previous owners):Valve adjustment just completed last monthTransmission rebuilt at 175K Engine rebuilt at 176K Shocks replaced at 170K Synchro replaced at 185K Oil return tubes replaced at 185K Calipers replaced at 185K Turbo Tie-rods, ball joints, bump steer kit, rear wheel bearings at 198K Oil (Royal Purple) is replaced every 3K or 6 months Super Blue Brake Fluids Turbo Valve covers New Battery H4 Headlamps (w/ sugar scoop buckets) Upgrades & Features: 7” & 8” Fuchs (rare: set of 8” =$1600 used) Fiberglass whale tail with intact rubber edge (soft) Autopower rollbar Bursch Sport Exhaust (Pelican BX-1134) 1-1/2hp Starter motor Pop-off Valve Modified air-box lid (drilled) Lowered Ride Height Strut Brace Corbeau Race Buckets (on sliders) original leather seats (torn/poor) included Crow 5pt 3” latch racing harness Rear seats removed (included with sale) AC removed (condenser included in sale) Engine heater blower removed (defroster still works) Condition: Mechanicals are strong, engine pulls hard throughout the rev range Body is solid (2 penny-sized bubbles of surface rust) Interior shows age (with usual dash cracks, worn carpets, etc) Paint is bright and shiny but shows age and mileage (chips, surface/clear coat oxidized) Seller’s Note (full disclosure): While the car shows it's age cosmetically, it starts on the first key-turn and runs strong and fast...handles great and would be an excellent introduction to Porsche ownership (at a low cost). This car is no garage queen…it is meant to be driven. As a testament to the quality and craftsmanship of the Porsche Factory, when you hear the doors close shut on this 30 year old car with just over 200k miles, you'll know what I mean=solid. The suspension is stiff with minimal body roll, handling is excellent in the twisty turns and the power pours on at 2k rpm. One additional note about the car, my wife doesn’t ride in it because it is ‘loud’ (engine induction and exhaust notes), and ‘uncomfortable’ (snug sport seats & stiff suspension)….all things that I enjoy in a sports car. Good luck bidding, I know the new owner will love driving this fun car. On Aug-21-12 at 22:10:05 PDT, seller added the following information: A few item updates that I left off the listing: -- This spring, I replaced all the injectors and jackets, plugs, rotor, diz cap, O2 sensor and rely. -- Last Fall, I replaced the fuel pump and alternator and alternator ground strap. All parts are OEM or next best brand. Thank you for looking.
