1958 MGA 1500 Roadster Mechanically excellent Cosmetically challenged No reserve auction Have you ever wished you could own a well running classic British car that was just a driver?  Not a show field competitor, not a trailer queen, just a driver.  Time was, the West Coast was filled with little British beaters like this, blasting down the PCH with no top and sometimes no windshield.  Nowadays most of what you see are restored examples, or rusted hulks that need everything.  This car occupies a nice space between the two extremes, it's an excellent runner that's had a lot of mechanical attention, and comes with many valuable NOS trim parts for when you're ready to bring the car to the next level.  In the meantime, here's an affordable British roadster that's ready to be enjoyed just as it is.  Click to enlarge any of the photos below, a link to a slideshow of all the enlarged images is available to view at the bottom of the page. This car has come out of long term Oregon ownership, a dedicated NAMGAR member who has owned this car since 1981.  Many trim parts were bought from Moss in the 80's but never installed, including a new grill, and new bumpers front and rear.  These are still in their original boxes 30 years later. As you can see, the paint shows a lot of flaws, but not a lot of rust issues as the car has always been garaged.  The only bubbling I've seen is on the passenger side rocker panel.  The wire wheels have been trued and the knockoffs recrhomed.  All 4 tires show good tread depth. Tonneau cover fits well.  Trunk comes complete with the factory jacking equipment.   The seats have been redone and are very nice.  The remainder of the Moss interior kit (door panels, header trim, etc) is included.   All instruments are working except for the fuel gauge and horn button.  The car runs cool and shows 50lbs of oil pressure at hot idle. The car starts at the flick of the key and runs super.  Recent work includes a complete fuel system rebuild, radiator recore, new hydraulics, new brakes, and all new front suspension components.     The car runs down the road great, the steering and suspension are super tight and responsive with zero slop.  The car tracks straight and brakes well.  The gearbox is good with the exception of 2nd gear, which needs to be double clutched when downshifting.  The car has a great exhaust note, its auditory response to the throttle is a big part of what makes driving this car fun. The frame is rust free and solid, the front frame extension assembly shows some dents, a replacement is included. The undercarriage has a bit of a Beauty and the Beast theme to it; the front suspension looks brand new, the remainder looks 54 years old. All new front end components and a rebuilt steering rack, the car handles great.  Included is the original soft top assembly and side curtains. Front and rear bumpers, new in the box from Moss Motors.  A brand new grill was also obtained in the 80s and never installed.  A replacement front frame extension assembly is also included.  The car comes with 4 full boxes of miscellaneous spare parts and a car cover.
