Cost $6,952.99. A copy of the invoice is available. The overhaul included, among many other things, a new clutch, core return, universal joint, compressor, control unit, and a TOTALLY NEW REBUILT ENGINE . The mileage on the car at that time was 84,506 miles. Then, when I picked up the car upon completion of the overhaul, I was introduced by my salesman to a pre-owned bigger BMW. Being a BMW fan since the 1970's, starting with the BMW 2002, I could not resist and purchased it. Of course, after buying that bigger BMW I no longer had a need for my 528e Model which, therefore, ended up in storage in my indoor garage where it was kept un-driven ever since (1997 until today). About two years ago, someone discovered my stored BMW 528e and was interested in buying it. So I needed to make it drive-ready. Not being a mechanic, I neglected all those years of storage to start and move the car every once in a while, with the result that the brakes were completely frozen and I had to have it towed to my repair shop in Evanston (THE AUTO DOCTOR). The repair bill ran $2,695.96. It paid for new brakes plus a new battery and a number of tests and a tune-up necessitated by the long-time storage (a copy of the invoice is available). The interested person was all excited but ultimately got discouraged by the stick shift transmission and the transaction was not completed. The car is not a new car but it was meticulously maintained in a very caring manner and is in an extraordinary mint condition -- outside and insidet: No rust (original paint), no dents or surface damage except for one small paint abrasion at the bottom of the right rear door and one on the hood adjacent to the BMW emblem (which are pointed to by the blue arrows on the photos), plus there are a few very very fine barely discernible stone chips and some scratches in the clear coat finish, too fine to be photographed and which can easily be buffed out. During the snow season, I always hosed off the salt immediately after returning home, especially the underside. It is a no-smoking, no-kids, no-pet vehicle. I am the original owner and have been the exclusive driver (with the exception of some test driving by the service shop personnel). Except for one minor fender-bending collision with no structural frame distortion in 1996 (a copy of the bill of the body job is available), the car is accident-free. It has almost new PIRELLI tires and the original never-used spare tire. Shortly before the overhaul, a new radiator, water pump, thermostat, muffler, fan, belts, hoses + stainless steel clamps, and fog lights were installed. There are no cracks in the dash board. There are no oil leaks or any other leaks. The car comes with one master key plus an emergency key, compact enough to fit into a wallet. The OWNER's MANUAL is in German language. An English version is attainable. The car was driven a total of 84,590 miles and that includes the only 84 miles actually put on the NEW ENGINE. The motor ignites instantly and runs smoothly, but I think after all these idle storage years it could use a thorough tune-up. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The only current issues with the car, which I am aware of, are: When turning the steering wheel, it squeaks somewhat. According to my mechanic, this is a normal effect of long idle storage which will fade away after some driving. The same applies to the rear shock absorbers which squeak, too, due to the long storage. The rear side windows and the sun roof don't open (electric circuitry). The trunk lock does not function normally (electrically and/or mechanically). The radio does not work / the antenna is stuck. The A/C needs to be recharged. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Payment: Deposit of US$ 500 within 24 hours of the auction end. The remainder is due within 3 days from the auction end. Payment can be made by Cash in person or Paypal. Shipping: Buyer is responsible for pick-up or shipping. Shipping quote is available from eBay. Terms: The car is being sold AS-IS __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
