CONGRATULATIONS! You have found one of the finest, fresh and fully restored 1971 Plymouth GTX's on the planet. Ma Mopar only built 2942 Plymouth GTX's in ’71 and only 2211 of those were 440-4bbl/AT cars. A common survival % is thought to be 30%. That would make this car one of only 600 or so left. Rare indeed. A full rotisserie restoration was recently completed and now has less than 100 miles on it. I have piles of receipts (about $32k worth) and lots of documentation. I have Original fender tag, door sticker, original dash plate and all body stampings match. I would first like to say that this car is truly an investment grade automobile and I dont use that term loosely like some here on Ebay. To qualify as "Investment Grade" it needs to meet a minimum of 3 qualifications. 1.) First and foremost-Desirability. Is a 1971 Plymouth GTX desirable? Is the Pope Catholic? Check. It fills the same seat as the ’67-69 Camaro holds for Chevy, the ‘67-70 Mustang holds for Ford, the ‘68-71 GTO and the ‘68-72 442 are a couple others that will ALWAYS be desirable. 2.) Originality. This car is restored per the codes on its fender tag with only the spoilers and front rubber bumper eyebrow piece (fiberglass copy-I can make u one if u like-its a dead on match to the original one and it wont cost u $1600) added for effect and while the orig block was windowed by orig owner in early ‘70’s it does have a code correct G440 HP block freshly bored with new pistons. Its fall 1971 all over again for this car. Some people choose to ignore (at their own peril) the orig color of the car and paint the car in their favorite color. Whenever a person does this they "penalize" the cars COLLECTOR value the approximate cost of a complete new paint job to turn it back into its orig color. While the owner may prefer black, when it comes time to sell it, all things being equal, he will always get more if its wearing its orig color as this car does. It is a very rare B2 Glacier blue metallic and its gorgeous. Most Mopars that came blue were the more common B5 blue which is darker. B2 has a little silver in it and was very rare and in 30 years I have only seen one other B2 and it was 71 Charger RT. 3.) Quality of Restoration. While this is not a legit number 1 car (very few cars are) it is a very solid 2 and would not take much at this point to bring it up to number 1 status. Mostly just by removing the aftermarket parts and installing factory stuff (air cleaner/valve covers, ect). The paintwork cant get much better. It is truly show quality. Beginning with a rust free, never been in an accident car, the entire body was put on a rotissorie and stripped to bare metal and then brought up with all PPG paint products. DP50LF epoxy primer, then blocked out with K36 and then K38 filler primers and sealed with an epoxy primer sealer and top coated with the correct DBU Glacier Blue metallic two stage paint, cleared and sanded and buffed to a mirror like sheen. The floors, doors, fenders, hood, quarters, trunk floor and lid are original to this car! This car has had a fresh, complete nut and bolt rotisserie restoration. Every nut, bolt, washer, fastener, latch, light hosing, trim piece, etc of any kind was removed and either replaced and/or restored, plated, polished and reinstalled. All original parts were used where possible. This is NOT some thrown together bunch of parts but rather an extensive 2 year effort with extreme attention to every detail. There are over 1500 man hours in this car! It has less than 100 miles on it so far, has yet to see any rain and all the little bugs have already been sorted out. All gauges and switches work correctly. NOS wiper motor. It runs smooth down the road with no vibrations at any speed and the car is a pleasure to drive. There is NO NEED for a trailer. Just fly in and drive it home. It drives straight and handles tight. It is truly a brand new car inside and out. Whenever I show up at the local car show people swarm the car taking pictures and asking questions. If you don’t like attention don’t buy this car. Suspension/brakes/wheels & tires: The leaf springs are orig, heavy duty multi leaf with original part numbers, new shocks on all 4 corners, all new brakes front and rear with stainless steel brake lines and all components inside rear drums were restored and painted. Power disk on front. All new brake hoses. New booster, master cyl and proportioning valve. Complete restored emerg brake cable setup, correct for 1971 only. Front suspension completely rebuilt with all new upper and lower bushings, sway bar bushings, tie rod ends and ball jts. The wheels are 15x7 Magnum 500's in frt and 15x8 in back with BFG radials, all brand new. Also has new gas tank with new pick up and stainless fuel lines and complete new exhaust system with 2-1/2" galvanized pipe with turbo mufflers and the famous "bazooka" tips. The car sounds like a big block Mopar should. Interior: New carpet, new seat covers in orig pattern and new headliner. New "Tuff" steering wheel and steering column was completely restored, inside and out as were both pedal assemblies and the emerg brake assy. All painstakingly painted the correct colors and textures. The heater box was disassembled and completely restored inside and out with new heater core. All gauges and switches work as they should. Orig AM radio. Restored wiper motor. Engine/trans: Block is a G440 HP freshly bored with a forged crank, orig #346 heads, 1971 440 Carter AVS carb and orig style intake. Engine has new rings and bearings installed. Comp Cams hyd cam 1 size up from stock and has a nice loping idle but still has plenty of vacuum for the brakes. New hi-vol oil pump with 45-50 psi at idle. Heavy duty radiator and correct 7 blade fan. Stock distributor with Petronix module inside. Orig power steering box was completely gone thru and also has new pump and hoses. Correct 727 torqueflight trans was completely gone thru and has new clutches and converter. Original 8-3/4" rear end with 3:23 gears. Car cruises at 70 mph on the freeway and will lay down a very long patch of rubber. I have a pic of the fender tag for the codes but a few of the important ones are E86=440-375 hp eng, B51=power disc brakes, L31=Hood mounted turn signals, V7X=Accent stripes longitudinal black and V21=perf hood treatment. I HAVE DESCRIBED CAR AS BEST I CAN BUT CAN NOT ALLOW FOR INDIVIDUAL TASTE. AS ALWAYS WINNING BID IS NOT AN INVITATION TO INSPECT CAR BUT A LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT!
