This 1988 is the very first year a V6 engine was offered in the 4Runner and you won’t find a nicer example. These highly desirable and collectable rigs are becoming harder and harder to find. For 24 years, it was carefully driven and maintained by those same owners. When it wasn’t being driven, it was carefully stored inside the garage. As a result, the cosmetics and mechanicals of this 4Runer have been carefully preserved over the last two decades. Over the years, the Toyota dealership performed the majority of the maintenance and repairs. We even have some of the maintenance records to pass along to the next owner. The exterior is finished in white and complimented by factory installed graphics. The graphics are in excellent shape without any sun fading. The body is laser straight and free from any major defects. The factory alloy wheels and chrome brush guard really set this truck off. In addition to the chrome brush guard, this truck came with the factory chrome package and SR5 package. This package added tasteful chrome trim to the bumpers, moldings, and door handles. Everyone who sees this 4Runner has stopped to compliment it and reminisce about a different time and place. The interior is in fantastic condition and shows minimal signs of wear. The factory bucket seats are still wrapped in the original cloth upholstery. The side bolsters are in excellent shape and aren’t worn down from someone sliding in and out. The plastic dash is free from cracking or fading. The carpets are stain free and aren’t worn or torn in any spots. The ashtray and lighter are unused and there are no odors. Even weather stripping and rubber moldings are soft and preserved. The original factory alloy wheels are 15”. They still shine and have no marks from rubbing up against a curb. All four fires are wrapped in excellent Bridgestone Dueler Revo All-Terrain Tires size LT235/75/R15. They are like new and have at least 10/32nd of tread depth. This 4Runner runs and drives as good as it looks! The mechanical condition of this 4Runner is top-notch. The 3.0L V6 starts instantly and runs smoothly. The V6 engine adds 29 HP over the standard 4-cylinder engine with only a 1 MPG penalty. The automatic transmission is an overdrive unit. It shifts smoothly up and down through all the gears. There is plenty of power for acceleration or passing. It was recently serviced at 99k miles. The 4 wheel drive system works just as it should, including the manual locking hubs up front. We had the timing belt and water pumped changed along with both valve cover gaskets. The most recent tune-up was done at 92k miles. 1988 Toyota 4Runner SR5 V6 4x4
Un-modified and all original! 1-Owner Toyota 4Runner SR5 V6 with only 103,164 miles and removable hard top roof. This 1988 is the very first year a V6 engine was offered in the 4Runner and you won’t find a nicer example. These highly desirable and collectable rigs are becoming harder and harder to find.

The original owners purchased this 4Runner in Northern California. For 24 years, it was carefully driven and maintained by those same owners. When it wasn’t being driven, it was carefully stored inside the garage. As a result, the cosmetics and mechanicals of this 4Runer have been carefully preserved over the last two decades. Over the years, the Toyota dealership performed the majority of the maintenance and repairs. We even have some of the maintenance records to pass along to the next owner.
The exterior is finished in white and complimented by factory installed graphics. The graphics are in excellent shape without any sun fading. The body is laser straight and free from any major defects. The factory alloy wheels and chrome brush guard really set this truck off.
In addition to the chrome brush guard, this truck came with the factory chrome package and SR5 package. This package added tasteful chrome trim to the bumpers, moldings, and door handles. Everyone who sees this 4Runner has stopped to compliment it and reminisce about a different time and place.
The interior is in fantastic condition and shows minimal signs of wear. The factory bucket seats are still wrapped in the original cloth upholstery. The side bolsters are in excellent shape and aren’t worn down from someone sliding in and out. The plastic dash is free from cracking or fading. The carpets are stain free and aren’t worn or torn in any spots. The ashtray and lighter are unused and there are no odors. Even weather stripping and rubber moldings are soft and preserved.
The original factory alloy wheels are 15”. They still shine and have no marks from rubbing up against a curb. All four fires are wrapped in excellent Bridgestone Dueler Revo All-Terrain Tires size LT235/75/R15. They are like new and have at least 10/32nd of tread depth.
This 4Runner runs and drives as good as it looks! The mechanical condition of this 4Runner is top-notch. The 3.0L V6 starts instantly and runs smoothly. The V6 engine adds 29 HP over the standard 4-cylinder engine with only a 1 MPG penalty.
The automatic transmission is an overdrive unit. It shifts smoothly up and down through all the gears. There is plenty of power for acceleration or passing. It was recently serviced at 99k miles.
The 4 wheel drive system works just as it should, including the manual locking hubs up front.

Before putting it up for sale, we had the 4Runner thoroughly inspected and serviced. We had the timing belt and water pumped changed along with both valve cover gaskets. The most recent tune-up was done at 92k miles.
This 4Runner needs nothing but a new home and owner who are ready to cherish it. Even the factory Air Conditioning blows cold!
The next proud owner will receive all the documentation we have for this vehicle including a CARFAX history report, original owner’s manual, service records, and two sets of keys.
