Vehicle Detail
1984 Mercedes Benz 500 SEC - 2 Door - V8 - 151,744 Miles So, here we are relisting this car again. The winning bidder did not leave a deposit or even come to look at the vehicle. Serious bidders, PLEASE! Strong motor and tranny - no noises, misfire, slippage, smoking or visible leaks or dripping. Although the title I was given is clear, apparently, according to CarFax, on 4/4/93 this vehicle was in an accident. It was driven and used by the same owner for 18 years since the accident. Car has salvage history and goes to the highest bidder. Drives nicely - in fact you can drive it home. The car was sitting for a long while and though it started right up, the brakes feel a little soft. No grinding noises at all. Car was not put on a lift so I cannot go into too much detail other than it starts, runs and drives nicely. 3 tires are ok. The 4th is not good, but I just had the spare tire replaced with an excellent used tire (same size). I would use that before driving it too far. AC does not work. (Maybe I did not push the right button - never could figure out these old Mercedes AC controls.) Body is straight with a little rust. The hood flew up at one point and cracked the windshield. Hood corners at the windshield are bent. Paint would clean up nicely with compound and wax - but to make it mint it will need a paint job. Interior is a little worn, most noticeably on the driver seat. This car goes to the highest bidder in "As Is" condition. Not a bad car, but it needs some attention. No Reserve! No Buy It Now! Please Don't Ask! We drove the car about 20 miles and through the car wash - no problems. Since this vehicle will not pass NY State inspection ... New York residents are unable to bid or buy unless they are a registered car dealer, registering/re-titling the vehicle out of state or are using it for “Parts Only”. When a car is sold as “Parts Only’ or “Salvage” it must pass a NY State “Salvage Inspection”. This is done to keep rebuilt wrecks that are unsafe off the road – especially vehicles with frame damage or airbag deployment. My cars are rarely rebuildable wrecks and therefore will pass this strict inspection process when the problem that is advertised is corrected. There are about 10 to 15 NY State salvage inspection sites in NY State – 2 or 3 are on Long Island and there are a couple in NY City. Call me for further clarification. As a registered NY State dealer I am unable to sell a car that won’t pass inspection to a NY State resident. Anyone else can bid and buy. Sorry, I don’t make the rules but as a used car dealer I must abide by them. Any questions call 516-228-1016 and leave a message if I’m not in. Please don’t wait until the last day or last few hours to contact me. Please speak clearly. I will pick you up at the train or bus station. Winning bidder please leave a $300.00 deposit in PayPal within 48 hours of the auction close. If I don't receive the deposit within the 48 hours I will relist the car. Please plan on picking this vehicle up within 15 days of the auction close unless you have made prior arrangements with me before bidding. If the vehicle is left after 15 days your deposit becomes non-refundable and I will relist the vehicle. All vehicles that run and drive are driven at least 10 to 20 miles and usually 30 to 40 miles. I try to describe these vehicles to the best of my 35 years of experience. Our familiarity with these autos is limited to the miles we drive them. Please be aware of this when bidding. As always, if the winning bidder is not happy after road test and examination, I will cancel the sale and refund your deposit. “A bid on eBay is considered a contract, and you're obligated to purchase the item.” Final sale price is what you pay! (New York residents must pay sales tax and inspection fee when applicable.) There are no extra hidden fees!!! Good luck and thanks for looking!
