Vehicle Detail
This `70 Plymouth Road Runner is a rolling chassis in need of a total restoration. It's original running gear is no longer with the car and no replacements are included. What this car does have going for it is that it is a real RM23 Road Runner that was originally a 383 bench seat 4 speed with the N96 Air Grabber option. It must have been a real stunner when it roaled off the Lynch Road assembly line very early in the production run for `70, August 29th of `69. Origianally ordered in FK5 burnt orange with a white vinyl top and a white over burnt orange interior! It has the fender tag still in place and very legible. All the body numbers are on there original panels and match the vin and fender tag and the sticker on the original door.No build sheet as the original interior was removed some time ago. The dash and steering column/wheel, headliner, visors, rear view and shoulder belts as well as the iterior window trim panels and kick panels are still with it.All the glass is with it except the driver side rear but the windshield will need to be replaced. Also included is a gauge clusterf but it is not known to be original. A nice core of a bench seat with nice tracks and a rear seat are also included. I believe the original axle was also changed out as it is not a sure grip unit and the brakes are missing from it however it is an 8 3/4. The driver side torsion bar and front swaybar are missing and there are blocks of wood above the lower control arms allthough there does not appear to have ever been severly damaged. Engine crossmember is also dented but does not appear to be related to the missing torsion bar. I'm thinking the original suspension was removed at some point and the car may have been raced. The original hood is also missing but a very nice standard Road Runner hood with very nice insert goes with it. The front of this car is rock solid including the fender aprons, firewall, cowel, and a-pillars and rockers but will need floors and a little patchwork on the torsion bar crossmember. The rear of the car will require a little more but the frame rails are solid with the exception of the visible pitting shown in the pics. Needs quarters, outer wheelhouses, rear crossmember and a tailpanel as well as a little work around the rear window lower corners. The inner rocker in front of the rear wheels will also need some patchwork and the trunkfloor replaced. The roof, rear underseat floorpan, package tray area and inner wheelhouses do not appear to need replaced. These are all very common areas that usually require replacement panels on these 40+ year old cars and that is why companies like AMD and Goodmark are making nice replacement panels for these cars. I have tried to be completely honest in my description of the car and I will let the pictures show the rest. Please ask any questions you want and I will respond promptly. The bird is located in the Detroit area but I will ship anywhere you want at buyers expense as long as you make all the shipping arrangements as well. I can provide you with the contact info for a good transport company if you need. More pictures available upon request.
