Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US ZH-TW X-NONE 1968 Dodge Charger, Numbers Matching 383, Automatic w/Broadcast Sheets & Fender Tag I bought this car on eBay almost 8 years ago from the 2nd owner, who had bought it in 1988 from the original owner. Vehicle was originally purchased in Florida, relocated to Pennsylvania in 1972. It was there until I bought it in October 2004. The first owner used it as a daily driver for the first 20 years, since then it has been completely off the road. The Charger has been in my insulated garage, where I have routinely run the engine, kept the gasoline stabilized and the battery tendered. During this last winter I did the service and parking brake work, flushed the radiator, changed the oil and topped off the transmission fluid. Finally, this past week I took it out for the first time, clocked 36 miles, with no problems. But, at this point in my life I’ve got too many other projects to finish, so this one is going up for auction. The car is in pretty good shape and complete, not clapped out or chopped up. The paint is a rare “spring color” Bright Red for 1968, code 33-1, the name was changed to Charger Red for the 1969 production run. PPG Ditzler paint code shows 71582 for 1968, then R4-71582 for 1969. The actual color is more orange than red. Because of the mechanical and body condition I believe the mileage to be accurate; and it to be a numbers matching car, engine id #PT383R24331769 and transmission id #PK2801543K24287046. Engine runs strong; no smoke, pings or fluid leaks. The 1st owner painted the engine black, but I scrapped off the block and heads and found turquoise paint. The oil and transmission pans are painted orange; I don’t know why.Light and vacuum actuator system works properly. All gauges, horn, radio, wipers work, glass is all good and the jack is included. It also has power steering, power drum brakes and a 2.76 peg leg differential. The brightwork is straight and has a good shine; the chrome is cloudy and showing its age. There are small patch pieces on the trunk floor, passenger front, dutchman panel, and rear section of both quarters. Bottom side looks good, it was factory undercoated. There is a little paint overspray on the rear backpanel and grill. Probably a partial repaint by the 1st owner, I do not see any body or structural damage. The 2nd owner told me that he had the primer put on the fenders, doors, front of quarters and valances after removing dings and small dents. I have not done any bodywork on this vehicle, but with a little bit of time spent this will be a great looking car. I have a clean Michigan title, insured, with Y.O.M. plates. Vehicle is sold “as is”, no warranty is to be implied nor offered. Winning bidder is required to send a $500.00 non-refundable deposit within 24 hours from the auction ending via PayPal only. The balance amount will be due in full within 7 days from end of auction. All funds must be cleared before vehicle is released. If you are not able or willing to meet these criteria, please do not bid. Ask any questions before bidding. The car is to be picked up within 14 days from the end of the auction. The buyer is solely responsible for arranging the pickup. Zero or negative feedback will be removed from bid list; I do not want to mess around with complainers, scammers or spammers. I will not take offers to trade or negotiate financing. This is a 44 year old vehicle, it has been off the road for 24 years, please don’t think you can just drive it home to anywhere. The belts, hoses and tires are old, so unless you are driving it local, you should trailer it or have a carrier take it to your location for safety. Buyer is responsible for pickup or carrier service. I will help with your carrier. Please do not ask for “Buy It Now” or “Reserve Price”, I will not respond. Vehicle is for sale locally, I reserve the right to end auction early. Car is available for inspection; contact me if you want to take a look. If you have any questions, please contact me thru eBay. I work days and will only respond to questions in the evenings. Sale within USA and Canada only.
