Vehicle Detail

Yes,I know, that sounds like a lot for any 914. 4075 914's built, came to the states, I don't know how many came to California 500?? This 1976 914 is in incredibly great--unrestored--original condition. I had a similar 914 in 1980 and this one is in better condition now than mine 32 years ago. All original--take a look at the pictures and you will be just as amazed as I was when I saw the car initially (and it looks even better after I got thru with it) I took out the headlights to clean the buckets under them--totally clean-original paint. The front trunk area has never been touched and is astonishingly clean for a car of this vintage.I bought the car from the second owner, Curt, who had bought it from Ms Woods thinking that his young daughter would absolutely love this car when she got old enough to drive (a few years hence) Curt hardley drove the car and it sat in the garage pretty much from 2005 until I bought it in April of this year. Ms Wood conscientiously had the car maintained and it got everything that was needed and was kept immaculate all the time and was garaged. When Curts daughter got old enough to drive she did not show the expected interest and the car sat in the garage.I bought the car from Curt because it was a time capsule and it was a trip down memory lane for me. I can not remember being this excited about a car in a long time and I have a few cars (under statement according to my friends). I flatbedded the car to my house, put some gas in it and drove it to San Diego to show it off to some of my friends. It ran very well and I was really pleased to get the comments from them. "have not seen one this clean in for-ever"---Unbelievably well preserved"---"You hit the motherlode"---"What a find". I drove the 914 home and smelled a little gas, shut the car off and realized how dumb I had been to drive it at all without checking it more thouroughly. The high pressure hoses in the fuel system especially to the injectors were dry an cracked and leaked. I took the engine and transmission out and replaced all the fuel lines and replaced the rubber intake runner boots and cleaned the engine up, no painting of the metal was necessary. I took all the rubber out of the engine compartment and detailed the paintwork. The hellhole under the battery was in excellent shape (no rust) I sprayed the compartment to make it look better and reinstalled all the rubber seals. While I had the engine out I set the valves, put in new plugs, rotor, cap, wires and cleaned the transmission. I separated the engine and trans and replace the main rear seal. Clutch and t/o were good. I re-sprayed the rear trunk with the correct color and kind of paint. There is no rust and there have never been repairs made to the rear trunk. This 914 has never been in an accident, all original panels, engine war rebuilt when Ms Woods had it but I did not get that paperwork from Curt. The engine runs extremely strong, I know these engines well and this is excellent. New catalytic converter and original exhaust system. The heater boxes are in great shape and the heating system is hooked up and working. Like new tires/5 premium cast aluminum wheels with center-caps One of the best in existence, Period. No 36 year old car that is original is perfect--If there is one it would probably sell for 30-40k, this one is not perfect and as close to it as any 914 you are going to find for under 20k. I am convinced that this car will appreciate more than any stock index or commodity and you will have the unmitigated pleasure of pride of ownership in a very rare car indeed. The windows roll up and down as in a new car, original interior and carpets are in phenomenally good condition. It is a pleasure to drive almost no air-noise (that is pretty rare in any 914 or porsche targa). Suspension and steering are tight, running gear is excellent, shifts easier than any 914 I have had (5). If you can buy this car for less than 20k you will have hit the jack-pot.
