Vehicle Detail
1954 Packard Convertible: Restoration partially completed and needs a sympathetic buyer to finish it. I purchased this car in 1992 and began the restoration within a year. The car was complete but required restoration. The work that was completed includes the chassis was stripped & painted, the engine was rebuilt, the transmission rebuilt, the brakes and suspension were rebuilt, the gas tank was cleaned and refinished, the body was stripped and all the rust was repaired in metal, the dented right front fender was replaced, most importantly - 99% of the exterior chrome was done and some of the interior as well. I had to stop the project in 1995 because of work and family and I just returned to it in 2009. It has been nothing but a nightmare since then. The body shop charged with finishing the body work and painting the car botched the job. The body repair was done correctly but the panels where not aligned correctly. The car is in finished paint but the panels do not match and they are wavy. To make this really right, it should realigned, all panels scuffed , reprimed, block sanded heavily and repainted. There is a new wiring harness, the dashboard is painted and partially reassembled, there are 2 sets of wheels - the original steel wheels and four correct wire wheels, a full set of NOS hub caps, there are miscellaneous new parts like emblems. I know I have more than $40,000 in this car and I'm looking to sacrifice it because I have zero interest in finishing this project. I also know that the bill to do the plating today would be more than I'm willing to take for the entire project. This is a good do-it-yourself project or if you have access to cost effective restoration services or are a serious do-it-yourselfer. Come and see this car for yourself. 96 800x600 Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Important Notice: Bidders on this car must have a feedback rating of 1 or more.
