Vehicle Detail

Please read the entire description before asking questions. You are looking at a 1965 Pontiac GTO convertible. This car has an interesting history and I will describe it to the best of my knowledge. The story is that in the late 1970s this car was in a rear end collision. The car was damaged bad enough that it was deemed unfixable. However, the car was a very desirable 1965 GTO Tripower convertible. So in the mid 1980s a virgin 1965 Lemans convertible was located and it was decided that the Lemans convertible body was going to be a donor body for the wrecked GTO. Both cars are Kansas built cars and built around the same time. The Lemans was a no hit rust free car and was a factory bucket seat and console car. All of the GTO goodies were transferred out of the wrecked car and into the Lemans. The YR engine with the tripower, the tilt column, wood wheel, am/fm radio, gauges, tachometer, etc. It was then restored to the wrecked GTO colors of Red, with Parchment interior. This car was done very well, it was even painted in Laquer. When the car was completed in 1989, it was sold to a Pontiac design engineer that actually worked on the original design of the 1965 GTO. He kept the car all of these years, and only did minor improvements such as having the tripower rebuilt at Mikes Tripowers. He did take the car into the GM Tech center every so often and let the guys buff and massage the laquer paint back to its original luster. The paint is over 25 years old and still looks amazing with only minimal laquer issues on the hood. Now with moving to Hawaii from Scottsdale, Arizona, the car is for sale to be enjoyed by the next owner. Every piece on this car works like new, the power top and windows work effortlessly, the air conditioning blows cold...yes, I said it blows cold. All the gauges work perfectly, the car runs and drives like new. You can stand outside the car and hit the key without giving it any gas and it starts and purrs every time. I just put brand new bias ply redlines on it within the last 50 miles. The pictures speak for themselves. I have had many 1965 GTOs and this one is by far the most striking, and in the best mechanical condition of any that I have owned. Ok, now for the disclosure, when they restored the car, they did not change or keep the VIN number on the wrecked car, remember this was the mid 1980s. So all of you that are going to want to order the PHS docs, don't waste your time. The VIN is going to come back as the Lemans donor body. So I guess I just want to say, call this car what you want, a clone, a rebodied GTO, a tribute, or whatever, but it is a stunning car that was done to the nines. I am offering this car at no reserve, bid what you think it is worth, if it had the right GTO VIN still on it, it would be worth a fortune. You could not even begin to build this car for under $50,000. Someone is going to get a hell of a car. If you are one of the thousands of guys that have dreamed of owning a 1965 GTO Tripower convertible loaded with options, this may be your only chance. You could drive this car for ten years and impress everyone and make money on it when your ready to sell. This car is no reserve. Please do not bid unless you intend to buy. I encourage all potential bidders to come inspect and drive the car in person. You will be impressed! I require full payment within 7 days of the auction end.
