Vehicle Detail
Now is your chance to own an exceptional Rabbit Pickup! I bought this truck last year with plans to keep it for much longer, but, plans change and I need to make room for new projects. Prior to me, this truck belonged to an elderly gentleman who always took good care of it and always kept it indoors. According to his family, the owners previous to him were his coworkers and took care of the truck in the same manner. Needless to say, all I had to do was take a walk around the truck to believe it. Shortly after purchasing, I deccided to do an extensive amount of maintenance to the truck to bring everything up to date. Since this work was completed, the truck has seen less than 1000 miles. Under the hood it has a new battery, new timing belt and tensioner, alternator belt, AC belt, cam/crank/intermediate shaft seals, perssed-in mount, valve cover gasket, water pump (includes new stainless bolts), thermostat, expansion tank/cap, and all new German/braided vacuum line. There are now no leaks or issues. As you could probably guess, the CIS fuel injection is in great tune and it cranks good and idles well hot or cold. The shifter has also been rebuilt and is adjusted properly. The AC has been converted to 134A and cools like it should. Unlike most of your diesel trucks out there, you can go 75mph down the interstate with the AC on without a struggle. The suspension has seen a bit of refreshing as well. I replaced the strut assemblies/ bearings, ball joints, tie rod assemblies and tie rod boots. I couldnt do all of this without installing a new set of michelin tires and having the front end aligned. The end result is a truck that looks and drives just as they did 25 years ago. The paint shines very well and the body is as straight as an arrow and rust free. You can see in the pics that the bed is very straight along with the tailgate and its hardware. Its easy to see that this one hasnt been abused. The original stripes are still in place along with the tailgate lettering- and it all looks great!. The condition of all of the rubber and plastic trim is a dead give away that this truck hasnt spent any extended periods of time outside. The interior is in amazing shape as well. The original seats, dash, door panels etc are all in place and are nicer than any ive seen in years. Anyway, heres a link to my short video and a few pics- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0-vqt2lVtg As always, I will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have. Even though I have been around these cars my whole life and have described it to the best of my ability, I would strongly suggest anyone who is interested to contact me and come and look at the car in person. This, just like any other 30 year old car, has its imperfections as well. The headliner is all there, but, has started separating from its board. Also, while the body and paint on this truck is exceptional, the hood has been repainted for some unknown reason. Since I didnt feel that the job was of the greatest quality, I decided to remove the hood, have it media blasted, epoxy primed and painted with PPG Global. It now looks great and matches well.
