Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE 1966 Ford Fairlane 500 Convertible This car was "Our Baby". We talked for several months before finally deciding on this one. We planned a complete Resto-Mod and then we were going to join a local car club; participate in Fun Runs, attend Show & Shines and be part of the Classic Car Social Life!! We bought it in January of 2011 and I have enjoyed driving it and working on it.Unfortunately, I have a degenerative bone decease resulting a multiple recent surgeries. Therefore, my current and future health situation makes it physically and financially impossible for me to go any further with the car. After many long conversations with my wife, it was decided that the car needed to be sold. That was over two months ago, but I’ve been having a really hard time listing it. I'm sure most of you will understand that. The car has a clear title, in my name, and is currently registered in California. ************************************ PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE AD AND CHECK OUT THE PICS ************************************** ENGINE: 289 V8, 2 barrel engine in it. It runs very well and is really fun to drive. It has a Newly Re-manufactured Carburetor installed, equipped with an Automatic Choke and DashpotTRANSMISSION: It has the usual 3-speed automatic. I'm pretty sure it is a C4. It up shifts and down shifts very well. I had it out on the highway recently and put my foot into it. It down shifted perfectly and accelerated very, very well! EXHAUST: Dual exhaust with glass-pack mufflers. All the pipes, glass-packs and hangers look pretty new and the car sounds nice and “Throaty”. BRAKES: The entire brake system is NEW!! New Master Cylinder, New Brake Cylinders (4), All New Steel Brake Lines, New Brake Hoses, New Brake Shoes and All New Springs and Self-Adjust Components. SUSPENSION: Rear Springs were removed, completely cleaned, rust proofed and reinstalled with NEW Bushings and Shackles. I have not done anything with the front suspension. BEARINGS: New Rear Axle Bearings and All New Front Wheel Bearings. I used NAPA's best bearings and a high-grade synthetic grease. DIFFERENTIAL: Completely Professionally Rebuilt with New Ring & Pinion Gears and All New Bearings. EXTERIOR: Just before I got the car, it was block sanded, painted with 3 coats of PPG and 3 coats of clear. As you can see by the pictures, it looks really good. All the trim and badging is there, but some items are pitted and you may want to replace. Someone put an XL Emblem in the grille, but it is a 500, not an XL. CONVERTIBLE TOP: The top operates great and has a New Motor. It has a glass rear window rather than a plastic one. The vinyl material is in very good shape, no holes, tears or frays. There is a slight gap on the right side when the top is up, but I’ve been told by Top Shop Pros it could easily be adjusted. INTERIOR: The vinyl on the front and back seats looks like it was installed recently. Sorry, but I never got a picture that really shows the seats very well. There really isn’t any sign of wear and there aren’t any tears, holes or frays. The dash pad has some cracks. The door panels have newer material on them, but they are just flat. GAUGES: The gas gauge does not currently work and the instrument housing is cracked. I was going to put a set of new gauges and a new radio in the existing dash. I do have a second original set of instruments and housing that, of course, go with the car. MANY ADDITIONAL ITEMS: · New Electronic Ignition, with New 8mm Wire Set and High Performance Coil· New KYB Gas Shocks – Front & Rear· New Ignition and Door Lock Set· New Arm Rests ready to be painted color of choice· Other Misc. Parts· I will include the shop manual and wiring diagram and anything else I find, but have forgotten to list. This car is a constant reminder of what I can’t do any more, so I am motivated to sell. However, I have so much money and time already invested, I can’t just give it away. PayPal or Bank Transfer or Cash if In Person Sale Call Ken at 916-956-6712 or 916-706-1061
