SEE MY OTHER AUCTIONS FOR MORE VINTAGE CAR PARTS AND ACCESSORIES NO PAYPAL. This particular auction is for a good original Volkswagen Westfalia Camper as shown. There are 39 photos listed - look at them all. Someone is going to get a very good VW Westfalia camper for a bargain price. NADA classic car price guide lists this camper at: Low retail - $6250, Average retail - $10,500 and high retail $20,400. I am starting the auction at below low retail with no reserve. It is above average ($10,500) condition. I have known of this Camper ever since it was new and knew the original owner. It was sold/purchased new in Georgia and garaged in Georgia all it's life. Not a rust bucket Northern or Coastal car. I recently bought it from the last owners wife. He passed away years ago and the camper has been sitting unused since around 2001. His wife told me that the engine was completely overhauled just before he passed away. She said she can find no paperwork substantiating the work that has been done but it is obvious that the motor has been out and it is clean and the heads are, again, obviously brand new, not used. Also it looks like the heater boxes were put in new around that time. The exhaust has some rust on it from sitting but it looks as though it was also new at the same time. (I am very experienced with VW's in general and have owned, and still own, many). The camper is perfect for someone who can do a little of their own work because it has not been running or on the road for roughly 11 years: Most, if not all of the items that need attention are minor. It is in excellent running condition. The good and the not so good are as follows: The good: 1. It has been in Georgia all it's life and the lady said it has been towed, not driven, for a lot of it's mileage (104,000 total miles)- it has a tow bar hookup under the front bumper. 2. It has rare air conditioning - very nice unit - It is all there but the compressor has had it's belt removed. The compressor is not frozen - turns as it should and the A/C clutch does work. I can see nothing wrong with the air conditioning system other than the fact that the compressor has had the belt removed years ago. The Air conditioning 3 speed switch and fan and cold/warm thermostat work fine - blows a lot of air on all 3 speeds. 3. It has a side self-roll up spring loaded awning with aluminum brackets - some of which are not shown in the photos but are there - don't know what the other longer aluminum brackets are for. 4. According to the widow the engine was overhauled just before her husband passed away. I have no paperwork for that but can assure you that the motor has been out and I can see two brand new heads, heater boxes and exhaust and the motor looks clean. The engine runs like it has had a complete rebuilding - very smooth and powerful with not a hint of smoke or leakage. 5. Starts, runs and drives very well. As stated it has been in storage for many years and really needs to have some local driving to sort anything out before any long trip is attempted. Runs and drives very well on our local country roads. It starts perfectly when it is warm out but is a little hesitant when it gets down around 60 degrees or less - may need a cold start injector or cold air sensor. 6. Shifts very well in all gears, including reverse. 7. Stereo radio works (don't know if the tape player works - I don't have any tapes), wipers and intermittent wiper position work, all lights work, speedometer works, odometer works, brake warning light works, hazard warning light works, rear defog works, turn signals work, clock works, swivel seats work, has a good spare tire and wheel, has the original owners manual and Westfalia campers manual supplement, has tons of curtains, drapes, screens, etc - don't know what half of them are for, all of the original Westfalia upholstery, cabinetry and furnishings are still in excellent condition - nothing has been modified or replaced. 8. The problem with a lot of these campers is rust but this one looks very good due to it's life in Georgia. Floor pans look excellent- just some very minor stuff under a couple of the side window gaskets from water sitting. 9. Has some accessory stuff like electrical outlet cords, jack, fire extinguisher, etc. 10. All of the original propane equipment is there - have no idea of it's operating condition. Both front seats have a neat swiveling function - they can swivel around and face the rear compartment. 11. The sink water pump works - at least I hear the motor running when I throw the switch. The not so good: 1. Horn does not work. 2. The normal heater fan does not work. 3. Gas gauge might not work - sometimes it looks like it does, sometimes not. 4. All of the tires should be replaced. The left front is a 185/70R14 and actually in good condition. The left rear is a Michelin X - about 1/2 tread and pretty good. The right rear is a Continental and pretty good with about 1/2 tread. The right front is a Goodyear and is ready to blow - tread is coming off - as stated, it really needs 4 new tires. However I have a complete set of four (4) aluminum alloy wheels and good 215X65X15 inch BF Goodrich tires as shown in the photos that I will sell with the camper for an extra $400. - again, if the buyer wants these 4 wheels and tires they are an additional cost and do not go with the camper in this auction. 5. The brakes need exercising - they have been bled and I put new synthetic brake fluid in the system - the power brake unit seems to be working OK but the brakes seem a bit hard - might be they just need driving, might be they need a new rear brake cylinder or two in the rear - the fronts are fine - OK. 6. The sink faucet handle is broken. 7. I don't think the refrigerator works - either that or I don't know how to operate it - I hear something running but I don't get anything cold inside the refrig. 8. The top tent sides need repairing or replacing - I think they could be fixed - it looks like the top was closed in a hurry and the sides stuck out and were exposed to the outside. I changed the oil and filter and used synthetic oil in the engine. I adjusted the hydraulic valves and they were perfect. Now I hear one of them tapping a bit so they may need to be readjusted by someone who is more familiar with these goofy hydraulic tappets than I am. Again, when I had the valve covers off it was obvious that everything was brand new inside including the rocker assemblys - the heads and their parts look like they just came off the shelf. The engine obviously has had major work done. I have applied for a clear Georgia title in my name and the winner will get it. VIN # WV2ZA0256BH024080. Engine #CV019149.(Original engine). It was repainted the original color many years ago - she said it was faded - probably didn't even need it. I am sure there is something I missed - email me if you need any more information. A $1000 NON REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT VIA PAYPAL IS REQUIRED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE AUCTION CLOSES. THE BALANCE IS DUE WITHIN 7 DAYS VIA PRIORITY MAIL WITH TRACKING NUMBERS WITH A BANK CASHIERS CHECK. As always, it is difficult to describe something as complicated as a vehicle - especially a camper such as this, so I would highly suggest you look at it in person or have a 3rd party do it for you. I can accomodate anyone to show them the camper. I have purchased and sold many autos through ebay and over the telephone and have always had excellent results but I do my homework and suggest you do the same. I describe things as honestly as humanly possible. If you want the car shipped I can arrange that for you. I have very reliable transport sources. NO PAYPAL. After selling some of the highest quality and hardest to find car parts on ebay for over 14 years I have retired and am winding down and selling off the last of my vintage parts. Most of them have been in the garage for 50 years or more and their "condition", even though the part might be new old stock does not necessarily mean that it looks like it was made yesterday. Keep in mind that there may be some (and may not) minor flaws (surface rust, nicks, etc) simply from age and many years of storage. In any case the new owner will get the original Georgia title and a bill of sale.
