Purchased new at Fletcher Jones in Newport Beach California. Garaged and serviced by first owner at the same Mercedes Benz dealership. These cars are becoming more and more collectible and low mile examples are very hard to find. Especially in this great color combination. See the many pics below. Finished in Brillant silver with black leather interior. Features two tops. Hardtop and softop. The power soft top is in great shape with no rips and tears and clear back window. Also, has a set of factory wheels that are finished in chrome which really looks great on the car. The Michelin tires were just replaced with less than 1k miles on them. Recent services include new distributor cap and rotor, serviced rear differential and seals, right door panel pocket repaired. Replaced convertible top switch. Car runs and drives excellent. Starts right up every time. Motor is very healthy and sound. The transmission shifts smoothly through all of the gears. The soft top operation works perfectly. The 300SL is called the only offical succesor of the legendary 1950's 300SL by reputable car magazines in Germany. It is a real collectable now and totally undervalued. As an up to 20 year old car, this car delivers in any aspect very well even by means of todays standards. The extraordinary quality is result of the best engineering of MB in Stuttgart and perfectly executed production and quality control. Only a few modern cars - and rarely any newer model Mercedes (we have owed several). Engine: ample power for driving in US, very lively engine that likes to be reved up to 7200 rpm (compare to Porsche 911 engine of the time in 964 with limit of 6500 rpm! Good fuel consumption especially considering the high curb weight. No flex on this car, higher body rigidity than Porsche cab. There is no other convertible on the market that delivers top down and no shatter or flex - period. Simply astonishing. Very effective wind protection. Driving in winter with top down at 30 degrees is no problem plus superb heating system and handy detachable windscreen. Suspension: perfectly balanced for fast but also luxurious driving. Modifications could only make negative impact. Much better handling than 500/600 SL due to lighter engine = higher cornering speeds. Brakes: not expensive to repair, use only original parts with correct material specs. Good performance and very reliable with no fade. High dusting due to performance pads. Trunk: good size. Grocery shopping for a 4 person household can easily be fit. Golf clubs fit fine. Paint: Simply extraordinary quality. New MB can not reach this level, nor can other 70 to 110K cars. Overall: The best car I have ever owned. (new- 70K for the 300SL, equals 100K in todays U$ 2012). Hope she finds good home. There are a few imperfections with the car. - Rear bumper has paint damage on left rear, front hood has a 1 inch clear coat peel (see pic), armrest slider missing button, drivers door wood missing a small wood piece behind door release handle- not very noticeable and available at used parts stores, ac blows warm. Other than those minor things the car is a great driving car and is in beautiful shape inside and out. Comes with original windscreen in trunk that attaches to roll bar. Also have hardtop included.
