Vehicle Detail
1978 Mercedes 240d. I have put about 13000 miles on this car back and forth to work over the past year. It has been a very reliable car but have to sell now, no time to fix. It is a 240d with 225000 miles. The good: New tires three months ago, new belts, new left front caliper and brake line, new right front window motor, new clutch slave cylinder, and new fuel filters. The bad: vacuum pump quit working so I lost cruise, most of my braking, and you have to shut it off under the hood or choke it out with the clutch due to the fact the ignition switch works on vacuum. Carpet was removed, it was extremely nasty, not worth cleaning, cracked windshield which has been this way for the last 13000 miles, rear windows do not work, and dent in left front fender. I have the piece of trim missing on the front fender and it is in good shape. Minimal rust for the year. A/C pump still installed but not operative. Up until yesterday the car had no problems. I am still driving the car some but would reccomend it be towed home because of the brake booster situation with the vacuum. It has a 4 speed manual trans also. This car is one of the best candidates for biodiesel since it uses engine oil to lubricate the injection pump. May be one of the most reliable diesels mercedes ever made. Not very good looking or fast, but extremely dependable. Email with any questions. Thanks
