Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE You are bidding on a 1967 Mustang Fastback GT. This was originally a 390-4V, 4 speed car, but was modified back in the early 70's. I purchased the car 3 years ago from a guy that had owned it for 36 years. It was his first car and had to sell it due to health reasons. The car was painted in white Imron back in the 70's and still looks pretty good. It was painted with Imron on the undercarriage also. The car is rustfree and in very good condition. It has a few minor battle scars after 39 years, but is a nice driver. This car is fairly radical and not for the faint of heart. It was modified over the years with the following changes. 427 side oiler 4 bolt main block with high riser heads and intake. The heads and intake are super rare. The motor was rated at approx. 700HP. It has a solid lifter cam, hooker headers with original long racing mufflers, scatter shield, original 427 Dual Point distributor. 4 speed top loader (large input) 9" rear end with 4:10 Detroit Locker 4 link rear end with mini tubs and radiused wheel wells 31" x 14" wide Mickey Thompson Positraction tires 1969 Mach 1 front bucket seats with racing jump seats in the back. The interior also has an original Shelby rollbar The front end is a tubular design which replicated Grumpy Jenkins Camaro back in the late 60's. 1967 Shelby style hood and an original Shelby trunk lid and end caps. The car supposedly ran 10:64 @ 136MPH years ago. I have had this car at the Woodward cruise the last 2 years. It is an extremely fast and fun car to drive. It draws attention where ever you take it. It's a little obnoxious, but draws a crowd. The car could stand some minor detailing (like coating the headers and detailing the engine compartment, but it shows very well. I had no intention of selling this, but need to focus on some of my other cars. I will also be selling my 390-4V 1967 Ranchero XL in the near future. Let me know if you have any questions. I added a picture with some drag race stickers taped on the car to show what it would look like if you want to make it look more like an original Drag Race Cobra Jet car. It is a cool car and you won't be disappointed with this. Good luck bidding and please e-mail me with any questions. On Apr-28-12 at 10:50:45 PDT, seller added the following information: I added pictures of the rustfree door bottoms, intake part number (1964 HR), cross bolted block, trunk area. This car could be bought and used as is or parted out and turned back into an original 390 GT car. The 427 motor, large input trans, original Shelby decklid, and original Shelby roll bar are worth $13,000 alone. A rustfree 390 GT fastback Mustang that needs restoration is worth $12-15K. My buddy just sold his GT shell for $12,900. Restored 390 GT's are bringing between $35-40K. This car is great value for the money. These high riser parts are super rare and very valuable to anyone restoring a 64 Thunderbolt or 64 Ford lightweight car. Contact me with any questions (e-mail or cell phone 313-779-1722). I wish I could give more details about the motor, but the original owner of this car recently passed away. He owned a local dyno shop, so this car was dialed in extremely well. It does have old school dual points, so I would think an MSD ignition would really wake this engine up. It's already scary fast. On Apr-30-12 at 17:51:41 PDT, seller added the following information: Please do not bid on this car if you don't want to own it. I had one bid retraction. I assume the person was trying to find out the reserve, so they bid a high amount to trigger the reserve and then retracted the bid. The reserve is $19,800. If you're not willing to pay that amount, please do not bid.
