Vehicle Detail
Here is a 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible which I bought as a possible future project. The car is an original 6 cylinder with auto trans.Due to limited time and space constraints.I have decided to sell it. I own several early Mustangs currently and I have worked on many Mustangs over the years . That said this car has extensive rot and would need a complete restoration. This is not a project for the inexperienced. This car would also make a decent parts car. Since I don't want any upset bidders I am trying to be as honest and up front as I can be. That's why I am starting the bidding at $1 DOLLAR WITH NO RESERVE........ Please ask any and all questions or better yet come and view the car in person, either way please bid what you would be willing to pay for this car. The car is located in New York about 1 hour north of Manhattan the zip code is 10547(Please google it to get an idea) .Transportation is the winning bidders sole responsibility, THIS CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE,IT MUST BE TOWED. Payment will be in the form of cash at pickup. Car must be picked up within 7 days of auction end unless other arrangements have been made. This is an "AS IS, WHERE IS " Sale. I bought this car as a non running heavy project that had been off the road for many years.Someone had started to do some work on it.VERY POOR WORK. I was able to get it running and moving with some tuning up and such,The gas tank is shot (I use a gallon jug). I also fixed the brakes, I replaced some of the hard lines as well as the wheel cylinders, master cylinder, etc. Basically I made it a yard driver so I would not have to push it around my yard. I had planned to eventually restore the car and make it an 8 cylinder. So I purchased a complete 66 289 V8 engine minus intake, carb, pulleys, brackets, etc. as a core to have rebuilt and install,I also purchased a v8 auto trans core. I am including these items with the car. Some of the bad highlights. This car will need full electric system repair and replacement (Gauges, wire harnesses, etc.) It will need Full interior seat frames and all The car came with no front seats and a broken.wrong back seat I threw a pair of dyed front buckets in but the frames are shot,So I'd say replacing of all seats would be required. The dash was cut for a radio(Big radio),most of the gauges are missing and they don't work, there's no heater box & no wiper motor. Metal work wise this car will need many hours of metal replacement and many $. It will need at a minimum: inner rocker rails, torque boxes(front and back), floor pans(Full front and rear, toe boards, etc.) , lower seat boxes, upper seat box, rear frame rail work, complete cowl replacement, rear wheelhouses, firewall,. Plus who knows what else? I'm sure Many more items will pop up once tear down begins. Someone in the cars past installed thin gauge sheetmetal over the rot in the floors and installed a rug over it. Body wise : The fenders were replaced with repos, the doors and quarters were body worked and primed, I would say that they will require replacement as well because they look bondoed. As well as the hood, valences, etc. Lot's of bodywork will be needed. If you don't see specific areas or parts of the car mentioned in the listing please Please assume they are missing, broken,rotted,etc.. This project is not for the faint of heart but with a bunch of money and a ton of hours you can have an early Mustang Convertible. This car was registered in the state of Maine by me,as I had planned to bring it up there to store it at a family members house. So it is being sold with a Maine registration document and a bill of sale. Each state is different in terms of their DMV requirements. So please check with your states DMV. I will sign any and all documents that will help the winning bidder get this car registered in their home state. Once again Please email me with any and all questions.Good luck and happy Bidding,Thanks. On Apr-21-12 at 10:53:42 PDT, seller added the following information: After some requests I've added some pictures of the 289 engine and trans (CORES) that are included in the auction. If it's not pictured it's not included. I've also had a few Buy it now offers . As of now I'm planning on letting the auction run it's course. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask, Thanks
