It does run and I did drive it about 5 miles. This car ran, started, stopped and shifted through the gears as it should with no issues. The engine has a lifter noise and puffs a little smoke at start up, probably the valve seals, but it doesn't seem to have taken any power from the engine. I am unsure if or when the engine has been ever rebuilt. This is a local car to our area and the previous owners had this car for over 15 years, driving it until a couple of years ago. This Skylark would be a great and easy car to restore. You can restore it to its original beauty or restore it to your likes or your taste. The costs for restoring this vehicle is very low compared to a car of the same year, make, and model that is in way worst condition. There is very little work that will need to be done to restore this car to its original beauty its all pretty much cosmetic. This could be made into the car you have always wanted or dreamed about! Exterior The car is green with a white top. The car has some minor rust spots, but is pretty solid. The interior will need to be restored. The trunk lock is missing. The trunk floor pans will need to be replaced. The back bumper has a slight dent. There is a small space between the brake lens and the bumper that you can see through. The A/C belt is not attached. The working condition of the A/C is unknown but the way it sounds when the belt wheel is turned makes us think it does not work. The RH inner fender is not attached but is in the trunk. Interior The interior is a white. The interior will need to be restored. There is a hole in the driver’s seat and the whole thing will probably have to be reupholstered. The headliner is hanging above the back seat and will need to be replaced. The radio was taken out and a CD player radio was installed. There are some cracks in the steering wheel. The door panels are peeling back next to windows and the metal has pitting rust and the arm rests on the door will need to be restored. The carpet will need to be replaced. The dome light inside the car is missing the lens, but does work. The metal on the sun visors have rust. The rearview mirror will need to be replaced.
