Vehicle Detail

The reserve price is less than the Buy-It-Now Price. The car is being re-listed due to financing that fell through. The payment terms are listed below, please do not bid if those terms will not work for you. Good Luck! Attention Collectors: Up for auction is a very nice 1996 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra Coupe with extremely low mileage. If you're looking for a "new" 16 year-old Mustang, then you have found the right Cobra. This is a highly optioned car that has the Mach 460 sound system with CD player, power seat, plush leather seating, and a highly desirable color combination. 1996 was the first year for the 4.6L Modular V8 engine. This Cobra model has the dual overhead cam version producing 305 horsepower and 300 ft lbs of torque, compared to the single overhead cam version in the '96 GT model with only 215 horsepower. This is a 2-owner, adult-owned car that has not been abused, raced, or modified in any way. So many of these Mustangs have been altered with the aftermarket parts widely available, however this Cobra is just as it left the Dearborn, Michigan assembly plant in 1996 with the exception of filters and oil. I am listing this vehicle for my best friend's 72 year-old father. I offered to help sell the car on eBay because he is unfamiliar with eBay and doesn't want to be burdened with the listing. The car has had 2 titled owners since new. A gentlemen originally purchased the car in 96 in Akron, OH. He drove the car sparingly for a few years and then became ill. His wife did not know how to drive a manual transmission. The car has had it's registration renewed each year and emissions tested every two years per Ohio law. The man eventually was unable to drive and later passed. The man's Estate sold the car to a local Ford Dealer in June of 2011 with 2,058 miles. The current owner purchased the car from the Ford Dealer in July of 2011 with 2,078 miles. There were 135,620 Mustangs produced in 1996. Of those, a mere 7,496 were Cobra Coupes. A convertible model was also available, but a lightweight car with this much power and torque feels much more solid in a coupe version. Black was the most popular exterior Cobra paint color, with 2,122 units. Most of the black cars had black interiors, however this car has the Saddle Leather interior which is much cooler in the summer months and just plain looks better. Only 725 Cobra Coupes units rolled off of the assembly line with this color combination. The condition of the car speaks for itself. It looks, runs, drives, stops, handles, and smells like a car with under 2,300 miles should. It is evident that it has always been garaged, never driven in salt, and probably never driven in rain. This car has very few imperfections that I mention below. Most people wouldn't even notice them at all, but I am very picky and want to be as honest as I can with the car. The engine bay is clean and bright. The Cobra engines were hand autographed by the builders at the factory, which is still visible. The underside is free of fluid leaks. The car is undercoated. I'm assuming it was done when the car was new and has held up well over the years. The four Cobra Model specific 17" aluminum wheels with painted inserts really set off the car. Original B.F. Goodrich P245-45-17" tires are in excellent shape with obviously plenty of tread remaining. Although the car has sat most of its life, when driving there is no noticable vibration from 'flat spots' on the tires. This car has four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, with the front calipers having factory "Cobra" badging on them. The right rear wheel has two very small marks on the outside lip that are hardly visible....see picture. All interior trim, door panels, dash, and glass are like new. All power options are in working order. The Saddle leather interior looks great. The car has factory floormats in the front, optional Mach 460 sound system with CD player, keyless entry, air conditioning, remote trunk release, power drivers seat, power windows, power locks, cruise, & rear defogger The original Ebony Black clearcoat paint shows very well. The current owner keeps the car garaged and covered. Right now the car looks great and turns heads. It really does. It's obviously a lifetime garaged car and there is nice luster and no oxidation. The pictures in the auction show how nice the car looks. This car only has 2,200 miles on it, however it is a 16 year-old paint job. On a scale of 1 to 10 with a "10" being a brand new paint job out of the booth with zero marks on it, I would currently rate the car at an 8. This is a black car and everything shows. After a professional buffing, the car would be a solid 9. I applied some Meguiars Polish by hand on a small area and it made a big difference. There are some scrathes on the car: - On the driver's side sill area, there are some small marks caused from getting in and out of the car. They might buff out and are only visible with the door open. - There are some hairline marks around the trunk key hole. - The front bumper cover has 1 scratch on the passenger side near the license plate holder. The picture in the auction shows that scratch well. I can get my fingernail into it, so it will probably not buff out and will need touched-up. Hardly noticable from 5+ feet away. There are about 4-5 marks on the driver's side near the corner of the car above the foglight opening. All of those marks are minor and should clean-up well with a buffing. The picture in the auction of this area looks A LOT WORSE than in person. There is a lot of reflection in that picture, those marks are hardly visible in the other pictures of the front of the car. I took some additional pictures of these areas. I can't load any extra pictures onto the auction, but I would be happy to email them to anyone.I could not find any dings on the car. I gave the car a quick clean-up inside and out but did not wax or polish the car. As you know, black paint can be very fussy when machine buffing or polishing so I will leave it up to the new owner to bring the finish up to "Chip Foose" level. This car's paint looks very, very good and turns heads wherever it goes. Notice the picture of me holding the piece of paper over the paint.....the paint is so clear and deep that you can read the letter from the reflection. This car's title is free and clear of any liens and in the owner's possesion. A $500 deposit into my PayPal account is required with 48 hours of the end of the auction. The balance of the selling price is due within 10 days via only a cashiers check, certified bank check, or money order. Shipping the car is the bidder's resposibility, however I will help by delivering the car to a shipper within 30 miles of zipcode 44221 for no charge. I am about 25 minutes from the Akron/Canton Regional Airport(CAK) and about 45 minutes from the Cleveland Internaional Airport, if the winning bidder wants to fly into either of those airports. On Apr-06-12 at 19:26:38 PDT, seller added the following information: I've received several questions about the car: - The car comes with 1 key and 1 keyless entry remote. Owner's manual and binder are in the glove box. I do not have the original window sticker. - The car runs and drives great. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it a long distance if you don't want to ship it. - I do not know a lot of the specifics of the car's history. The current owner that I'm handling the auction for has only owned the car for 8 months and drove it less than 200 miles. He purchased the Cobra but then soon realized he needed a more practical car that he can drive year round. The AutoCheck history report show a duplicate title was issued, which probably occurred during the handling of the estate of the original owner.
