Vehicle Detail

I am regrettably listing my very special '60 T-Bird as I've come to the realistic conclusion that this one and my other '61 I have listed will not get completed any time soon and I won't live forever. It is a rare and unusual car folks. I bought this car to add to my collection because as a kid my dad owned a '58 in red with a white top and three speed manual transmission. Those of you that know Birds know that a factory ordered 352 4bbl with a three speed manual column shift is rare and production numbers were very, very low, around 3% total and if you take out overdrive equipped cars it's around 1.5% or less of the year's production run were 3 speed manual cars. This car is listed in the Thunderbird Registry at the following link; Registry Number 36858 www.tbirdregistry.com/count.aspx page. I can provide the data plate info for you if you'd like. It matches the way the car is equipped. The car created a lot of interest right after I registered it because of how exclusive it is. 1.5% was low when new and survivors are even more rare today. Now on to the car. I was told by the guy I bought it from that his father in law purchsed the car as a demonstrator with less than 1000 miles on it. That owner died and his widow kept the car for many years and it sat untouched. Being the good son in law he offered to buy the car from her and she sold it to him. It again sat untouched for a few more years. The car shows around 40,000 miles and I was told it is correct and accurate. The car is Raven Black with red and white vinyl interior. Zero options aside from an AM radio. That means manual brakes, manual steering, manual windows, and that's it. Most of the paint is original but well worn. The interior is all there but toast. The body has normal rust in areas you would expect a 52 year old car that lived its whole life in Pennsylvania to have. The lower quarters behind the wheels, minor rocker area rust, front crossmember, and not much else. The bottoms of the doors in and out, the deck lid, and the trunk floor and floor pans look good. The hood has typical rust holes where the inner and outer hood were caulked, a typical Ford Motor Company issue found on these cars today. Parts are readily available for this car from numerous sources at reasonable prices. I have new step plates, new white headliner, and spare rear seats that were recovered in the correct color combination and correct vinyl. I have a brand new dash pad in the correct red, and a new gas tank and sending unit. There is more but I forget what's in the boxes. These parts alone are valued at over $1200.00. The car wears 70's period 15" Keystone mags and 215/75/15 tires. I have the original 14" wheels and hubcaps for the car. It is 100% complete right down to the cigarette lighter and fender skirts. It rolls & steers, no brakes. I do NOT know if the engine is free or not, I NEVER tried to turn it over. The guy I bought it from stated he had taken the plugs out and oiled the cylinders occassionally, that's all I know. Figure on a rebuild anyway if you're restoring it. This car is a very worthy restoration candidate. It should be done on a rotisserie and shown/judged because of how rare it is. The production numbers for this car are equally low to the sunroof cars of the era. There are very few of these cars that exist today. I will be posting additional pics this weekend so that you can make an informed decision on the purchase. If there are specific areas you want to see just e-mail me and I will get them to you. The car must be picked up in 15 days, payment must be made in full before you pick it up, and I will help load. Unless we speak in person no exceptions can or will be made. I have sold numerous cars overseas and overseas bidders are welcome, container shipping is easily arranged on your end with ports nearby in Philadelphia, Baltimore, or New Jersey or New York. Please check out my other auction for my '62 T-Bird as well. It's rare color combinations and rust free condition make it an excellent restoration candidate. On Apr-10-12 at 07:38:09 PDT, seller added the following information: I've decided to lower both the reserve price and the buy it now price in an effort to move both of these cars by the end of this relist. I need the room and I need the money and I need them gone. Bid to win folks, you'll get the benefit of my motivation to sell.
