Vehicle Detail

Here is very rare little truck up for auction, and as the old rear window sticker reads “Made in the USA for the USA”. A 1965 Factory Ford F100 4x4 short bed step side, ever seen one? This is a really cool truck to drive and gets a ton of attention BUT keep in mind when considering bidding on this – its a “REAL TRUCK” – no air conditioning, no power mirrors, no butt warmers, no intermittent wipers or NAV etc... Local legend has it - this truck was ordered from the factory by the owner of our local Ford dealer for his own personally use back in 1965 and has remained here in our little town in Northern California ever since. The original inline 6 was replaced at some point for the highly desirable Ford Thunderbird 312 V8 Engine with the early style factory Ram Horn exhaust manifolds. The transmission is the Ford truck 4 speed with granny low and a divorce transfer case. The axles and all suspension look to be untouched and original to the truck. Body is in really nice condition and the bed rails and tailgate show almost no wear at all. The only damage on the body I can find is on the hood on the right side above the hinge where it looks like something fell on it. There was bodywork done in this area that’s cracking now. There is minor surface rust at the left drip rail and some scaling on the floorboards but nothing that will require welding or patch panels. The rockers, cab, fenders and bed are super solid and look great on this old truck. The red paint is seriously California sun bleached and is chipping in some places. The wood in the bed is original and punky, it will need replacing. Glass is all good. The window and door mechanisms including weather stripping are in place and working good, the doors shut “click” solid. Electrical is good, lights & all gauges are working – oil water amp fuel. Stock seat is good and solid but will need recovering. Heater box and blower motor is missing completely along with the glove box door and radio (these parts are available at the local wrecking yard here and could be included for an additional fee). Rims are 17”solid aluminum with good 33” Cooper Tires. The heavy front step bumper sports a 12000 lb Ramsey electric winch that does work, it comes with the original hand held controller – with power in/out. Early style glass lens - KC spotlights are in place but not wired into the truck at this time. I drove the truck for the video today and it ran great although I couldn’t access 3rd gear and may need a synchro or just a better driver? I ran through the transfer case and all seems to be working properly. Brakes are good for 4 wheel drums. Steering is manual and is a upper body workout on tight turns as expected. When we acquired the truck we replaced a couple of wheel cylinders and front rubber brake lines. Installed a new Napa battery. It had a bad rear U joint that we replaced. Oil sending unit was leaking oil along with the valve cover gaskets so those were replaced. The tie rod ends were shot along with the steering arm and dampener so those were replaced. All the fluids including differential oil was topped off, front bearings were repacked. This truck is ready to be driven and enjoyed or tore down and completely restored, your choice. Either way its not likely another one of these pickups will ever pull up next to you at a stop light, or be at any car/truck show. The production numbers I could find are in the hundreds for factory 4x4s and even less for 1/2 ton step side short bed models. Best of luck on winning this auction. Ask a lot of questions and do your research before bidding please, you are bidding to BUY not look. I also have a album of pictures I can send you or if you need specific areas photographed just ask – please include your regular email address with the request so I can send these large photo files to you directly. The auction will run to the end and reserve is set low for such a cool truck, so be prepared to own when bidding and be able to write the check after the auction to pay for it. We will store the truck for 30 days inside our shop, after 30 days standard daily shop fee’s will apply. We will make ourselves available to oversee (photograph) and load the truck onto your transport company when it arrives here at our location 95451 (we can help you hire a good transport company if needed, but shipping costs are the buyers responsibility 100%). Direct wire transfer is our preferred payment option, personal checks are OK but the truck stays here until funds 100% clear - (NO PAYPAL accepted) – signed Title will be overnight express mailed to you with Bill of Sale once funds have cleared. Oversees buyers use Port of Oakland California as place of origin for getting shipping quotes (a 400 dollar U.S. fee to trailer the truck to the Port will need to be paid above the final sale price). Thank You for viewing our auction.
