Vehicle Detail

I have a 1984 FJ60 Land Cruiser 4x4 to sell. This week, it's receiving a new paint job (including door jams) and new carpeting. The posted pictures are before the new Black Paint and Grey carpet have been completed. But all will be done before the auction is done and I can email photos of the finished product. I have about $10k into this rig to include the following items being rebuilt or replaced new within the last 12 months: Manual transmission, clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, transfer case, entire rear axle, drive shaft u-joints and yokes, entire brake system, A/C compressor, intake and exhaust manifolds have been resurfaced, new gaskets, air injection piping replaced, new exhaust pipes, mufflers, and catalytic converter, Pioneer CD XM radio, new power antenna, new adjustable FJ mirrors, front seat covers (seats are tear free, but the front seats were replaced with a newer grey seat from a later model landcruiser prior to my purchase of it), a carpet dash cover, all three wiper arms and blades, and there is probably some small nickle and time stuff that I've forgotten about. This FJ only has about 155,000 miles on it, which any die hard FJ owner knows is barely half its engine life span. This FJ has the inline 6 cylinder engine what I refer to as dependable power horse. These FJ's are known thru-out the off road industry as being the best of the best for off road driving. My FJ is mechanically sound and I would drive it anywhere. It has the tow package and is wired to be towed. I have 5 cars and need to sell 3 of them which included a 1984 Eldorado Roadster and a 1994 XJS Convertible. I reserve the right to cancel this auction since I have the vehicle advertised locally as well and it will be treated as a first come first serve sale. The carpet will be BLACK and it will be replaced from the front to the tail gate. The rear wheel wells will have the vinyl replaced with the carpet and the cargo side panels will also be carpeting with the black carpet too. The carpet on the door 4 panels is currently grey and the auto trim shop is going to dye those black. The carpet job will be completed by Saturday, April 14th. The auto trim shop has been in business in the same building for over 40 years and has a great reputation for good qualify work. The black paint that was used on this FJ is a two stage paint. All the trim and light pieces were removed before painting. It was sand polished this morning, but I did not allow them additional time to do a detail cleaning to the exterior due to my time restraints. I did find a few imperfections such as two spots on the front passenger door. It looks like two tiny paint chips, on the original paint, did not get feathered out during the sanding process. Also, I noticed a couple of small dings that were missed during the body prep. The previous paint job was in really bad condition and it was difficult to identify all the blemishes that needed to be attended to, even though my first pictures made the paint look like it was in pretty good condition. The previous paint job was good from a far, because I waxed it. But it was far from good. Anyway, I'm really picky so I noticed all these things today. I will say though that the door jams came out very nice. This paint job cannot be waxed for a minimum of 4 weeks. When you do wax it, you are required to use Carbaneuba Wax. I tried to post as many pictures of the defects as possible, to include: small wear spot in the head liner near the cargo area over head light, mud flaps being bent, crack in tail light lens, and the small dings that were missed in the body prep stage before paint. I believe I posted it in earlier updates, I installed a very nice dash pad because the dash board had cracks on the top portion. If you have any questions about this FJ, this is the time to contact me and ask. As you can see in the earlier updates, I have invested a lot of money into the mechanical restoration of the rig. The paint and carpet is an added expense to get a better sales price, but I am thousands of dollars in the red at the current $6500.00 auction price. Please email me with additional questions or for additional pictures. Thank you.
