Vehicle Detail
1981 Fiat X1/9. Red/Saddle. I drive my Fiats every day just like modern cars, that's why I love this 1981 X1/9. I find this car to be truly beautiful with an unmistakable Italian flare. And with it's high-revving 1500 motor, 5-Speed gearbox, Bosch EFI, rack-and-pinion steering, four-wheel independent suspension and disk brakes, it's a blast to drive! If you need to run down the freeway at 75 mph, she'll do that. If you want to enter a local SCCA autocross event, she'll do that too! Check out the pictures, here's what you'll find:Exterior is nice - shows very light wear and tear for a car of this age - a few dings and chips but still looks great in the driveway! BTW: That's original paint.Interior is good - the driver's seat cover is torn but the padding is good and the seat is still comfortable. The carpet shows some wear as you would expect. This is about as close to rust-free as you'll find in a 31 year old Italian sports car - some light surface rust in hidden (trunk floor) areas and a very small bit of bubbling on one door. What you can't see in the pictures:This car has had extensive work done on the drivetrain so don't let the 175K odometer reading keep you from bidding. She runs a lot better than any stock X/19 and I've driven a few. This car has been fitted with a higher ratio final-drive which allows the engine to relax a bit at modern freeway speeds. Most other cars of this type were geared to cruise at 55mph due to the U.S. national speed limit at the time of manufacture. If you intend to drive your car much, you really want this gearing.Electrical equipment is all good - headlights have been upgraded to HID (ballast-type) and work great - the Blaupunkt stereo works perfectly. This is a driver's car - tight and solid with good or new brakes, shocks and tires. She runs and shifts perfectly.I would not hesitate to buy this car, fly to Arizona and drive her home to Oregon, Ohio or wherever home is.You would be very hard-pressed to find a better driving X1/9 anywhere. A rare opportunity not to be missed! Have Questions? I've tried to provide complete information but if you have questions, please ask before bidding. Relisted with no reserve!
