2005 Mazda6 s 4-dr wagon, 3.0l fuel injected, 5-spd manual trans, 2-ownr, accident free, nicely kept Cruise Air Power drivers seat Steering wheel contols ABS Airbag switch Digital compass Upgraded sound system Alloy wheels, new 17” Firestones Perfect glass Keyless entry Very plush interior for a Japanese car! Nice condition over all with beautiful interior, fresh unstained carpet and cloth seats. Smoke-free interior, not leaking any fluids, no check engine lights or warnings, fresh brakes, new tires, smooth shifting, all electrical functions normal. Only blems are CD player not working and the little dash board storage compartment door has a broken hinge on one side. A few paint chips on the hood that have been touched up with matching paint. No accidents or evidence of panel repairs. Very few dings or chips around the car. My engineering-student son has been commuting to chicago from cleveland in this Mazda. It’s obviously been well kept with a high percentage of the miles coming on the highway. It runs out great with no operational issues at all and just a few age-appropriate cosmetic blems. I ‘took over payments’ on this car to let junior concentrate on school which means dad takes the bath on this one. He’s only had it for a year so he would have been paying off the dealer for about the next 17 yrs. He owed about $7k on it. Buy it now is $5800. No reserve so any bid takes it. Driving Notes: This car is a blast to drive, very smooth and assertive with better-than-expected handling. I’m a mechanical engineer many yrs experience in the automotive aftermarket--a lot of that with a tire company where I got to test drive just about every modern suspension platform. Mazda seems to have figured out control arms--the way the germans have on VW’s at least. The car tracks nicely without as much over steer as you’d expect for a wagon. Not many of these sporty wagons around anymore--the Volvo 50 is about it that I can think of. Mechanical Notes: There is no timing belt on this M6. This engine uses a chain to drive the cams. There is no schedule for replacing a timing chain as there is with a belt. In my experience the chains rarely break and they often give some warning by starting to get noisy before they go. Mazda uses a hydraulic chain tensioning system that runs off engine oil pressure so as usual, good maintenance is rewarded. This car is quiet and is on schedule for all service requirements. Just off an oil and filter change--synthetic of course which we use in all our cars around here. I have a 2-bay shop where we restore motorcycles as a main activity but we do work on all our vehicles including an occasional engine overhaul so we are sensitive to maintenance issues.
