If the car does not sell for my selling price, I may be parting the car out so bid now to get it whole, or you'll miss your chance. I have been contacted by tons of people wanting parts off it. Also the car is listed locally for sale so if you want it, get in your bid early or I will remove it if it sells... But here goes...I have debated back and fourth on selling this, since I love the car so much... but finances are too tight to have 4 vehicles. I am not selling because of any major defect or whatever, but yes it needs a little tlc. I am a manager for an auto parts store so I have put a lot of new parts into it, have spent close to $4000 total in the last year... It's a 1985 Pontiac Trans Am, which I purchased last summer to fix up and drive in fair weather. I did some fixing up, but I can't afford to keep her. She runs great, starts easy and drives smooth. No rust issues outside, just a small amount underneath the car on the frame rail in back and inside the rear wheel well. I have a couple new parts that will go with the car also, but have not been installed... I have a new manifold air temp sensor (which may fix the hesitation when cold) and a new flywheel cover with bolts, brand new. Specs: 5.0 L (305) engine, tuned port injected (just like corvette) Hedman long tube headers and newer exhaust with Hooker muffler and chrome rectangle tips. 700R4 Transmission, with new corvette shift governor Positrac Differential with 3.27:1 gears, 9 bolt 4 wheel disc brakes factory T-Tops and Rear window defroster Power steering with 2.5:1 ratio box Eagle Alloy 16" aluminum wheels P245/50R16 Ziex Tires with decent tread left Power windows and door locks I have replaced the following parts within the last 6 months: All 4 brake calipers new All 4 brake rotors new All brake lines new All brake pads new New idle air control New gold series distributor cap & rotor New Accel header spark plugs and wires New Cold air intake New steering center link (drag link) New idler arm and bracket New power steering pump pulley New black carpet dash cover New gas cap Recently replaced the mass air flow sensor (used) and burnoff relay (from 85 corvette), throttle position sensor, oxygen sensor, and a few misc items like a new turn signal switch and a used coolant overflow tank from a 91 firebird. Also installed a set of seats from a '94 firebird so they are grey but look great! The suspension is tight, all tie rods are good. Check engine light works, and it is not on... so no issues there. Last year we installed a new stock cam, timing set and torque converter. Just replaced the positrac differential carrier with a good used unit, so it has new bearings and posi works great. I used lucas diff lube with posi additive when installing. Headlight motors work properly and lights all work. T-tops leak only slightly. OK now the negative: She will need a bath, has been driven daily! Has a little hesitation when first accellerating but only before it warms up. After it warms up, it accellerates perfectly. Body is decent but needs attention, there is a dent in the front driver fender, a little ripple in the edge of the driver door, and a wavy spot in the passenger door. Headliner needs re-covered. Window seals are cracking on door. Door locks need installed correctly (I am including a brand new set of door locks and keys with the sale). The rear end whines slightly when hot, was told it needs pinion bearings but could wait so I did. Steering box is a little worn so it wanders a little from center on uneven roads, I was told this can just be adjusted. Gas guage is innacurate. Stock temp gauge doesnt work, I installed an aftermarket guage. Doors sag but only slightly, they close fine. Window motors work but are a little slow. No stereo will be included but all speakers have been replaced recently with some nice 3 ways all the way around. Fan works great but will not change over to heat (I beleive it is a vacuum hose). And the air conditioning was removed. Has a couple cracks on the dash pad (covered by the new cover). Fog light lenses are broken. Wipers work on low and hi only. Washer fluid motor doesn't work. Cruise isn't working. Paint touched up in spots. Minor oil leak. Odometer shows just over 8000 miles, I beleive this to be 108,000. This car has definite potential, and you can drive it home! I love the car and hate to see it go, but just have too many irons in the fire. I encourage you to come and see the car before bidding, just send me an email and I will contact you about viewing it.
