Vehicle Detail

I am getting out of the old car restoration Hobby, and will be selling off my stuff to the highest bidders. This auction is for a 1954 Chevy Convertible Project car. The car is disassembled. It will need a complete restoration. As with all cars of this caliber, it will need all new glass, upholstery, soft rubber goods, electrical components ect. The car is fairly complete with many extra parts. All of the convertible specific parts are there, with the exception of top hoses, cylinders, and pump which are normally replaced with available new parts anyway. I will be posting more photos of the parts as the auction progresses and I can dig them out of storage. Nice solid convertible top rack, front fenders, doors, convertible rear seat springs. This car was saved from a Kansas tree line by the previous owner. It will be sold with a bill of sale - buyer to obtain paperwork. Please understand that you are bidding on a non-running project car that is not 100% complete.Car may be viewed prior to auction end. The body was removed from the frame and is currently just sitting on the frame, awaiting your rotisserie restoration. The convertible floor was replaced professionally using a rust free floor from a 1954 2 door hardtop - it is extremely solid and will media blast without pin holes. The original convertible frame was media blasted and shot with black epoxy primer. The original vin and trim tag are in place on the car. My thoughts were to build this car with an updated suspension and drive train, keeping the same stance and look of a 1954 convertible with modern amenities. The car has the bolt on Chassis Engineering Mustang II IFS, with flaming river rack and pinion, CE installed Chevy V8 engine mounts, polished tubular control arms, sway bar, and front disc brakes - all installed on the rolling frame. Also a 10 bolt 8.5 Posi 3 series1969 Camaro rear end with 3.08 gears, new 30 spline axles, built with ALL NEW parts by GM Jim Differentials/ JD Race and Restoration out of Richfield Ohio. I have photos of the assembly and receipts of worked performed and parts used. This was professionally mounted on the car using the Chassis Engineering complete rear end mounting kit, with new leaf springs, shocks, and mounts. The rear end also has all new rear brake shoes, cylinders, and steel tube lines bent like the factory. The trunk floor has a few pin holes, and the quarters will also need some metal work, but IMO are fairly nice and solid for a car of this age. Patch panels are available through various vendors. The rest of the sheet metal is very nice as shown in photos This is a very good start to build a very nice car- when completed these cars go for 30 to 50K. There is over $5000 in suspension parts alone not including labor. This will be the least expensive way for the right person to get into a 50's GM convertible, with a solid start, building it the way you want. You are bidding to buy this car- not the option to come out and look at it and then change your mind. I will store it for a reasonable amount of time to accommodate your auto transporter. All shipping arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. The car will be packed with all parts secured to roll onto a trailer. I will sell to the final highest bidder with a modest reserve. My loss is your gain. Car is also for sale locally and auction may end at any time before reserve is met. Once reserve is met auction will run it's course. A $500. Non Refundable Paypal payment must be made within 24 hours after the auction ends. The balance must be paid in cash or certified funds prior to the release of the car. I will consider delivering this car for $1. per loaded mile depending on your location (ask first). Car is located just south of Omaha Nebraska, close to I-80. Good Luck Bidding On Mar-22-12 at 17:39:47 PDT, seller added the following information: I just added 7 more photos- rear seat springs shown with fabricated 1/4 armrests- the rear springs are extremely nice and should media blast and powder coat to perfection - no repairs will be needed....your upholsterer will not be disappointed! Including a set of armrests from a 2 door hardtop with trim moldings. The front seat came from a donor car (54 Chevy 2 dr.htp.) it is in good shape structurally with all seat shells. Also shown are 2 original doors that were on the car, and 3 other doors - you get a total of 5 doors with this car...choose the best 2.....sell the others -these are all solid doors . The dash is as pictured, As I said, this car came from a Kansas farm tree line and was stripped for parts over the years. As the photo shows the convertible top switch remains in place and the original id tag is in place - factory spot welded on the left A pillar. Also shown is the front toe board area where the floor was seamed at with 1/2" overlap mig welded from both sides. An extremely nice (took me 3 years to find) Original blue steering wheel without cracks is also included. There is no steering column, (I was going to use an updated one). Also shown is an extra dash I had planned to use that one as a mock up to bench wire and fabricate A/C vents ect. Many other parts are left to go through and I will be posting more photos as I get them pulled out. Please make your bids on what is shown in the photos - I will have everything posted on here before the auction ends. (hopefully by Friday morning) . The convertible Top Frame /Rack will require only cosmetic restoration and weather stripping/seals. It moves freely, is not bent ,and has had no repairs. The header panel is unbelievably solid- you just won't find a nicer one. Again, no disappointments. I have done my best to put together the nicest parts I could find- buying parts cars and stuff from ebay and swap meets, to make this car as complete as I could. There are still parts that will be needed. I am including everything I have left over for 54 parts- so the buyer should be able to use what they need and peddle some of the rest. I hope these additional photos give bidders a better picture of the car....if just the opposite is true, feel free to retract your bids. I'll be adding more photos of the bumpers, front end ,stainless trim, and other parts later. Email any other requests for specific area photos and I'll do my best to accommodate your requests. I'm trying to provide as honest of a description as I can. All questions will be posted for other bidders to see. Thanks Bob On Mar-23-12 at 11:22:37 PDT, seller added the following information: Adding a few more photos - to answer a few questions....There will be a lot of parts here- if you are hiring a transport company to pick the car up make sure that they are aware it is a non running non steering car. It rolls perfectly , but if all the parts have to be packed inside this thing it will need special attention and handling. Also the wheels on the car are original 54 chevy and the rear axle width still accommodates use of the rear fender skirts. The fenders pictured will need about an hours worth of work from a skilled metal man to repair some dented damage.....otherwise they are totally rust free and so is the bracing. I included close ups of the fender bottoms as this is normally the weakest area.....They came from an Arizona donor car along with the inner fenders which will need trimmed to fit the new suspension set up.You won't find better used fenders than these- I was very picky in my selection. Every piece on the front end is extremely solid and suitable for a higher end restoration. If you desire more info on the Chassis Engineering IFS, Rod and Custom magazine has an online article detailing the procedure....just google it. I still have about 6 boxes of parts to go through and photograph - more pics will be up here by the end of the day. If you would like to ask questions, I can also be reached on my cell phone at 402-960-6300 -Bob Pennington This auction WILL NOT end early, the reserve has been met, and this car is going to the final highest bidder on Sunday morning when the auction ends. On Mar-23-12 at 14:36:45 PDT, seller added the following information: Final photos of all parts included - please study all of the photos - the last picture is of boxes of parts mainly fasteners, brackets, misc stuff - What you see it what you get - don't assume anything else- if you Have questions about anything please ask - The rear convertible top snap down moldings are straight and restore-able , missing a few snaps. Everything else as pictured. On Mar-24-12 at 10:05:46 PDT, seller added the following information: The original convertible factory riveted (Never removed) Cowl tag is on the car it reads as follows : Style 54 1067DTX Body L 6838 Trim 337 Paint 552 Top BLK The engine mounts are factory welded by Chassis Engineering to accept a small bock Chevy V8, these mounts will also accept an adapter for an LS1 mount from Speedway motors if a guy wanted to go that route. The builder will have to buy or fabricate his own transmission mounts as per your engine tranny configuration. On Mar-25-12 at 18:20:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Additional Photos are now available to view online in my photobucket album at http://s1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/bobnebraska604/
