Vehicle Detail
THIS VEHICLE IS SOLD AS IS AND THERE IS NO WARRANTY EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION And now for the good news! You are looking at a very well maintained 2006 Jetta (BRM engine code). I am the original owner of this vehicle and purchased it new in 2006. The car drives like new and you won't believe it has 156,000 miles on it. Anyone who sees it can't believe it. The car was garaged at home and and garaged at work so the paint is in excellent condition for its age. The car was driven to and from work by my wife and no kids were routinely in the car. No one has ever smoked in this car. Outside, the body has no rust and no dents. However, once when it was being service we had a freak hail storm and there is some small hail dents on the hood, roof and trunk lid--nothing major and you can't even see it from 5 feet away unless you look for it. The spolier under the right side has a scrape on it, probably from a parking block, but it's not really noticeble unless you bend down and look underneath the vehicle. Inside, the car is in near new condition. The back seat was rarely sat in and I believe we have the new factory floor mats, which we never used. The inside had every available option you could get in 2006, except GPS (which was offered, but impossible to find). SiRIUS satellite radio, dual AC/Heat, power drivers seat, cruise etc. The lumbar power lumbar support doesn't work, but my wife never used it anyway, so we never got it fixed. The sunroof and heated seats work great as well. The sound system is awesome. The passenger side mirror housing has some minor damage and the turn signal in the mirror doesn't work and once in a while the display will show that the left rear turn signal lamp is out and it is not--this has only happened a few times and really isn't a big deal so we never had it looked at;. As far as maintenance goes, I changed the oil using AMSOIL European Car Formula- (you MUST use the spec in these TDI's or you will be sorry, Motul and Castrol also make the proper spec oil) The oil was changed every 5,000 miles, even though the manual says every 10,000 miles. The car got brakes and fuel filters when it needed it and here are a few other things: 90,000-new timing belt and water pump (timing belt DID NOT break),110,000-new A/C compressor, 121,000 NEW OEM DSG transmission, 125,000 NEW OEM DSG flywheel, 139,000 4 new Goodyear tires, 139,000 left and right side front wheel bearings, 154,000, new EGR cooler. As you can see, the high dollar wear and tear stuff has been replaced. All work was performed at a VW dealer or certified technician. I have receipts for everything as well. We usually keep a car until 150,000 miles and get a new one so that is the only reason we are selling it. The car is ready to go and needs nothing. I would not hesitate to drive the car across the country. The most milege we got on a trip one time was 54MPG-I have a picture from last week where we got 53MPG--We routinely get about 46 MPG. The sticker spec on the MPG is is off by alot--I have no ideal how they calculate the milege, but we have been way over the stated MPG on the sticker. The car is availble for you to look at and drive if you like. I have described this vehilce honestly to you. Check my feedback and you will see I don't play games. If you would be flying in, you would fly to Reagan National or BWI and I may be able to pick you up at the airport, but check with me first. Also, most banks WILL NOT finance a vehicle this old, so keep that in mind. You may call me if you like and I will answer your questions as best I can. The vehicle is for sale locally for $9,000 so the auction may end early! Thanks! The pictures I will be adding are of the original sticker, keyfobs, manuals and receipts. ThanksOn Mar-20-12 at 20:16:12 PDT, seller added the following information: A few things to mention about this car (or any TDI 1.9L). If buying a TDI, and you buy one with over 90,000 and the timing belt has not been changed, you are buying a ticking time bomb as the belt will snap and destroy your engine literally at any moment- it is a 4,000 mistake. The internet and your dealer will provide you plenty of horror stories about this, but check into it yourself. Also, on the DSG's (transmission) they will develop a noticeable rattle at idle somewhere over 100,000 miles. It is the DSG flywheel and if not replaced, it will explode and cause you major problems. The oil-the manual (and VW techs will tell you) says in bold letters that you use only spec (I think it is 502.01 or 02-the AMSOIL I use covered all the VW specs)-and when you are buying one of these TDI's, make sure you know how often the oil was changed and with what--if it was a Jiffy Lube or not a VW specialty shop, more than likely you have oil that doesn't meet this spec. As I said, only AMSOIL, Motul and Castrol (Castrol only sells the spec oil to VW dealers so you won't find it anywhere else) make oil that meets this spec. Again, this could be a costly mistake. Certainly make your own decisions and check it out for yourself-if you're buying a TDI from a dealer or anyone else, do yourself a favor and ask the above questions. Also, you will notice the interior is leather, which I don't belive is offered anymore--I think you can only get the letherette, which is a cheaper, thinner material (i has little holes in it). I'm pretty sure you cannot get the dual controls for the heat and AC either. Whether you end up buying my TDI or not, please ask these questions and research this on your own as you will find plenty of info for the TDI's. ThanksOn Mar-23-12 at 05:44:35 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had a number of calls and messages asking if I would end the auction early. At this point, I don't think that would be fair so I will not end the auction early. Thank you
