Here is a 1962 Chrysler Newport convertible, one of 2051 built that year. Here is its’ short story. I bought this from a man, who’s grandpa bought it in 1966 and drove it until he past away in 68 .Then his grandma drove it for one year until 1969, it then set in her garage until 2002, then she gave it to him, he never drove it, so it still has the 1969 license plate on car and the registration in the glove box, ( as well as the past years they owned it) along with a small license plate with the same number on key chain. The person I bought it from put the car in his garage for 8 years (2010) , and tried to fix rust on fenders above headlights ( with bondo ) , then he decided he wanted his garage back , so he put it out side with a tarp over it, ( not a good tarp) the wind tore a hole in tarp and tore convertible top open, and leaves , debris, and water got into car, collecting on the back seat and destroying the carpet and back seats with water. I bought the car this year (2012) and have removed the carpet and seats to check out floors. The floors are in good shape, will need some rust fixed on rear drivers side, rest have surface rust and some scaling. Trunk has scaling and some rust, and a few holes, not bad, not where whole trunk floor would need replaced, put would need some patching. Lower quarters would need repaired. Front fenders would need fixed ( above headlights, and bottom dog legs) or replaced , hood, trunk lid and doors are in great shape. Convertible top would need replaced. And seats would need recovered. All glass is good, no broke or cracked glass. This Newport was painted code YY7 , this is the code for top color Y ( rosewood) and bottom color Y (rosewood) , and the 7 is for (convertible ) and has never been repainted. SO code 1127. Built November 27th. Body code 815- 2 door Newport Convertible Trim code 404 Black interior, Newport Motor is a 361 and has code S 36 on block, this would make this the original motor for car . Motor is locked up, and would need complete rebuild . Has the push button selector for shifting transmission . There are parts in trunk, and I have a extra grille for car. This is a low mileage car with only 59,720 miles on it, but DMV here in Indiana, would not put actual miles on title , because it has not been registered in 43 years . This is the kind of car you want to restore, most of parts are here, all original, and a low production car. I have pictures of floors, and trunk floors and many of underneath of car. Seats are back in , but only one bolt is holding down front seat. I will try and put up as many pictures as I can , if you don’t see something, I probably have a picture of it, so just ask. Car is sold as is were is. I have car for sale locally , and have right to end auction if I sale it before the end of auction. I will need a deposit of 300.00 by pay pal at end of auction and car will need to be picked up here in Decatur, Indiana within 2 weeks of the end of auction.
