We were told it was a Florida car, brought to Chicago in a dealer trade. This Benz is going to be highly sought after, so bid confidently. Cosmetic Impressions Go to your local Mercedes dealer, look at a new Benz on the showroom floor and size it up. We doubt you will be able to see much of a difference. While it is overstating the point to say it looks exactly like the day it left the factory--it is a stunning example. Owned by a non-smoker, it looks and feels factory fresh in every respect. No door dings, dents or scratches to mar the overall impression of a car that is nearly new. All surfaces of both the interior and exterior look like new. It even smells fresh. Let's face it, with only 30K highway miles over 4 years, it has about one-half the use of most cars of similar age. We expected it to be superb, and it did not disappoint us. A+ Mechanical Impressions The Mercedes E Class offers the perfect combination of luxury, comfort, performance, styling, and build quality in its price range. During our 200 mile test loop, the car was every bit as solid as we anticipated it would be. Build quality is fortress like. We always felt in command---whether loafing around town, hustling down a curvy country road, or cruising at high speed on the interstate. BMW fans may disagree, but this car leaves nothing to be desired. Acceleration, braking, fuel economy are all at the top of its class. This car was just delightful to drive--and be seen in. A+ Market Analysis As we are sure you might expect, our wholesale consultant had a tough time finding comparable vehicles in our local market. Most had inferior color combinations, higher miles, or fewer options. Florida history was a plus, as was the stunning cosmetic condition. All said, we found franchised Mercedes dealers to be offering similar vehicles in the $35-38K range. Car Max and several luxury independent car dealers were polled, and they gave a retail range of $33-$35K. It should be noted that they did not currently have any inventory that matched the description of our car.
