Vehicle Detail

The story: I am the third owner of this early model Vin number 00046N 1970 Lotus Elan+2 S, since restoration was started. When the restoration was first started the motor was completely rebuilt to 40 over and supposedly a hot cam put in. The gentleman then became ill and did not finish the project. Some friends purchased it with the dream of finishing but never got beyond buying many new parts and re-doing the frame . Now the sad story. The motor was put outside and covered but never had the spark plugs put in place. there it sat for 7 years and of course the covering deteriorated allowing water to enter the motor. I disassembled the motor in an effort to ascertain the damage. Findings: The motor though complete except for lifters must be bored and sleeved. The pistons were new and can possibly be salvaged. The crank was well greased and I seems that it likely will be usable. The cam and twin cams have a very light film of rust and one would have to check with a mechanic about use. The head needs to be replaced. I labeled the parts and bagged them at time of disassembly. The good part, They kept the old parts as they overhauled so I am assuming that the rear differential has been rebuilt as used parts were there. The Transmission moves freely and driveshaft is good. The frame has been stripped necessary repairs made and painted. I took the new parts supplied and assembled the rear suspension to new, bushings, bearings and shocks. I assembled the front suspension adding the new bushings except for one that was missing. The rest of the front end needs overhaul tho the steering rack is tight. There are original, not rebuilt Zenith carburetors. There is a current Utah title.Vehicle milage is unknown. Parts: There are many other new parts but I have never made an inventory. Included are 2 never used Michelin tires and two Remington tires that are new or nearly so. New fly wheel, pressure plate, clutch plate, some lights and switches, exhaust manifold, rear rotors, tune up parts, rubber seals, and some electrical parts. As for the overall number of parts removed during the restoration it looks as if most are there. Most or all of the switches and lights seem to be there for the dash along with the gages, the speedo is not original as it has a black face instead of dark grey. Most of the electrical parts seem to be there as well. The gas tank is there and solid and all window glass is good. Missing parts: I do know that the rear bumper is missing, the seats are missing except for a rear seat back but the seat slides are there. The radiator is missing and the steering link between the steering rack and the steering column. As I have not restored the car I can not say what all is or is not there. Overall: The car appears to be mostly complete with very little spider webbing in the fiberglass and only minor repair needed. Some cracks around front and rear wheel wells, the fiberglass is broken around the rear exhaust pipe mount and a few other small repairs inside. No major body damage. The car is very restorable and most parts are still available. I am selling a complete and original shop manual in a separate listing for anyone who would like one.Call with questions as necessary or other photos. Don 435-619-4955 New bidders to Ebay must contact me before bidding. On Mar-08-12 at 15:28:35 PST, seller added the following information: Please be advised that today 3-8-12 I noticed a bulge in the side of one of the Michelin tires, as the car does not include a spare tire the buyer will need to buy a spare tire and this tire should be used as the spare. On Mar-11-12 at 10:10:40 PDT, seller added the following information: Update on the tire.It would appear that when the garage mounted the tire they tore the bead and the tire will not hold air. I am putting a used tire on in place of the Michelin for ease of transport as the tire is no good.
