Vehicle Detail

1996 Mazda RX-7 Right Hand Drive LS2 6.0L V8 THIS CAR IS TITLED AS A 2007 MAZDA RX-7 IN ALABAMA UNDER THE JDM VIN: FD3S101977 Please no inquiries on how to import a Japanese car. Contact an importation agency for that. I imported a 1996 Mazda RX-7 from Japan in 2007. Engine and transmission were removed and crushed in Japan to clear customs in US. I have a 2" binder worth of records and receipts for the work done to this car. Hinsonsupercars.com in Alabama installed the following over a year period. 6.0L V8 LS2 Engine from a 2006 Pontiac GTO (had 1,500 miles, GTO was rear ended and totaled) 6-Speed Manual Transmission, T-56 Borg Warner (from GTO) LS2 ECU and Engine Harness HinsonSupercars V8 Conversion, see what all is included here Hinson Right Hand Drive Headers Hinson Y-Pipe 3" + 3" to 4" Hinson 4" Exhaust Zex Dry shot 100hp System with 10lb bottom (rear mounted) Zex Purge System (Vents through the fenders) Zex Bottle Heater Note: Nitrous system was installed by Hinson as an apology for taking too long on the car, and was never wanted, or used. I emptied the bottle of Nitrous by showing off with the purge system over the period of a week, never refilled. I then replaced/installed the following on the car in order to update it '00 OEM Nardi Steering Wheel '99 OEM Front End Conversion '99 OEM Tail lights '99 OEM Foglights '99 OEM 17" Wheels (Widened by Weldcraft, 8.5" wide front, 10" rear) OEM Door Panels OEM Center console switches OEM Overflow bottle OEM Rear Storage Bins OEM Dash Replacement Center Speaker Grill OEM Rear Reflectors OEM Spirit-R Passenger Foot rest Leather Seats with red contrast stitching Upholstered 2k miles ago HKS Hipermax III Coilovers (installed 500 miles ago) SPEC Lightweight Flywheel replaced 1.5k miles ago SPEC Stage II Clutch replaced 1.5k miles ago Brake Rotors replaced 1k miles ago Brake Pads replaced 1k miles ago Falken Azenis Tires All four replaced 1.5k miles ago Adjustable Aluminum Rear Toe Arm Adjustable Aluminum Trailing Link Cleared Headlight Housings (Euro clear style lens, as opposed to diffused) LED Turn Signals Kenwood Excelon DNX5120 DVD/NAV/CD/MP3 - Installed to use GPS for MPH read out as gauges are in KPH I replaced the speakers 2 years ago as well, but I have long forgotten with what. Something I got at Bestbuy RE-Amemiya 300kph Speedometer Seibon Carbon Fiber Fenders Seibon Carbon Fiber hood ST Sway Bars JHP Pontiac GTO Shortshifter ShineAutoProject Re-Amemiya Street Rear Diffuser Spare Parts that come with the car:ShineAutoProject Pro Type Diffuser (New in Box) OEM Steel Fenders painted red (Inner lip on Driver fender lip needs to be rolled from previous rubbing) ShineAutoProject Fiberglass wide body fenders (new, un-painted) OEM Aluminum Hood (Painted Red, Has paint chip and dent in the center from moving van) Replacement Rear Suspension Pillow Ball Bushings Carbon Fiber Headlight cover for passenger headlight THE PROS29 MPG highwayThe LS2 engine was designed for a 1,000lb heavier vehicle, the Corvette. Put it in a car weighing approx 2,600lbs with the 6-speed transmission from the Vette as well, and you get a car that gets 29mpg on the highway all day. Better has mileage than my V6 Daily Driver Low MileageLS2 was installed with 1,500 miles on it, and has only done about 3,000 miles since. The chassis has done less than 40,000 miles. I replaced the speedometer when it failed, and the new speedometer has 85,000 KM showing on it, when previously it was 60,000. I listed this auction at 85,000KM because this is what the speedo shows. (For your personal records, you just always minus 25,000KM off the speedo to get the true distance traveled with the chassis. New Running Gear and Wear ItemsNew Parts (within 2,000 miles since install) include: Coil-overs, Slotted Brake Rotors, Brake Pads, Clutch, Flywheel, Tires, Wheels, Seat Leather, Door Panels, etc. Changed the oil with Mobil 1 Synthetic 60 miles ago. THE CONS Paint/VandalsAlthough this car was completely painted new in 2007, someone recently (DEC 23) keyed my car when I left it outside over night in the driveway. Normally it is in the garage. They managed to put a scratch in basically every paint panel, break a small clip on the gas door so it won't stay closed, and break off the headlight cover on my driver side headlight. I replaced the headlight cover with a spare carbon fiber cover I had in the garage, but I otherwise would have never put this on the car because it has, what I would call, "A silly scoop on it." I have the passenger headlight cover in carbon fiber too, but I won't install it unless the buyer wants it on. It just comes with the car. FenderDriver Carbon Fiber fender has cracking in the upper most section where the previous tire rubbed. This is the main reason I replaced the OEM suspension with coilovers, so I could adjust the height to not rub with the new setup. Also, I have the OEM fenders, and aftermarket fenders to replace these if you want. They come with the car. Wear/Items Needing ReplacementThe rear suspension has a noticeable "clunk" when you go over bumpers. This is due to worn rear pillow ball bushings. I have bought six replacement bushings, but have yet to replace them. Part of the reason for selling this car is I have no more time to work on it due to my new job. The new bushings come with the car if you want to have them installed, or do it yourself. The rear hatch has tint that has since turned purple and should be replaced The popup headlights sometimes hesitate to come up when you turn on the lights, but NEVER hesitate if you just push the "headlight up" button. I think just a relay would fix this. Because I put in LED tail lights, the turn signal will blink fast. (LED require lower voltage than halogen, so the relay makes LED blink faster) This isn't a problem, but something I consider sloppy, and should be swapped back out for original halogen bulbs. When I replaced the old steering wheel with the 2000 OEM Nardi wheel, I did not connect the horn under the airbag center piece. You will need to unbolt the center piece of the steering wheel (3- 10mm bolts) and connect the horn before getting inspected. Because the hood is carbon fiber, I feel it may need hood pins down the road, as it is light. Just a suggestion. Get a rear wheel alignment. I have aligned the car since I lowered it, but the moron said he never aligned the rear, and I have not had time to go back and get it done. The tires are not showing uneven wear, but once again, just a suggestion. THE AWESOMECar is titled as a "2007 Mazda RX-7" showing 38,000 miles for odometer readingI have the title for this car, free and clear. Titled in Alabama where I used to live (near Hinsonsupercars), and when the registration office titled it, they entered it as the import year of 2007, and as a Mazda RX-7. The JDM 10 number VIN is listed on the title, instead of a USDM 17 number VIN. Right Hand DriveFunniest part about this car is when you try to get fast food from a drive-thru and no one is in the car with you. I did it once; in reverse. 6.0L V8 LS2This amazing 400bhp from the factory motor is basically stock. It has headers, cold air intake, and exhaust, just so it fits in the engine bay, but is otherwise un modded, and will last you as long as any '06 Chevrolet Corvette/Pontiac GTO engine would last. 200,000 miles or more? This is a Corvette motor basically, in a car that weighs 1,000 lbs less than a Corvette. I estimate the wheel horsepower at 450whp due I/H/E. Although never tracked, Hinson estimated low 11 second to high 10 second quarter mile times. Had one buyer test drive it recently, and he giggled the whole time. This car is seriously fast. Fierce Sound 6.0 liter pushrod V8 bellowing through a single 10" muffler. Crazy amazing sound. If you have heard some demon late model Corvettes, you know what I mean. Perfect combination of mean V8 sound with mean Japanese sports car look. For some reason I get a lot of people asking if it is a Viper. :/ Super Unique, super rare, super fun, super deal Price: $22,000* Invested: $60,000 Documented (Well over this number in incidental items and labor) *How I got that Number Insured Value: 30,000 Needs Paint: -5,000 (Labor and paint) Tint Car: -150 (Labor and parts) Pillowball Bushing install: -200 (labor only, will supply part) Hood pins for hood: -200 (parts and your labor) Connect horn labor: -50 (your labor) Replace LED bulbs with halogen bulbs: -40 (Parts and your labor) Replace Headlight relay due to hesitation: -80 (Parts) Wife wants it gone discount: -2080 (sad face) Total: 22,000 Selling vehicle because I have 3 cars total, and no time to really work on the RX-7 since my son was born. A few have asked about vehicle trades: I will consider trades on each basis. I will accept the vehicle trades based on the intent to sell the vehicle. Therefore, I am more likely to accept a trade that has been paid off/has enough asset invested to pay the equivalent amount that I can resell it for the listed buy it now price at least. Keep in mind, this will incur fees to me in the form of registration, inspections, and sales tax possibly, so I expect the trade vehicle to at least be worth the buy it now price if not more. Thank you! Serious inquiries only. You may have trouble financing this car with an institution under a "car loan" as the banks have no idea how to value a Japanese Domestic Car. The closest thing they can look up is the repossession value of a 1995 Mazda RX-7 (last year in States), which is in the 15k range. You may want to apply for a personal loan, if you must finance the price of this vehicle. If you are shipping the car, I can assist the shipper company to load the vehicle, and larger spare parts you may wish (fenders, hood.)
