Well I'm sure no expert on Volkswagens but I ended up with this 1980 camper from an elderly woman I know, who has not used it in over 5 years. She has owned it for over 10 years and just does not use it enough. Just before she bought it, the previous owner spent over $4,000 on a complete rebuild. She says it always ran excellent for her (this van was running and driving exellent when last parked). First I will list the minuses as I see them.... This van is over 33 years old, and being sold as-is. It has sat idle and in storage for 5 years or so. It will need fresh gas, new battery, cleaning, etc. The tires look excellent, but are old. There is a broken piece of grill missing as well. Now I will list the pluses.... This bus isn't perfect by any means and could use some cleaning and detail. It has very low mileage on a new engine. I have all the books, manuals, reciept etc. It has a newer CD stereo system. This bus is very solid and not rusty like most. The rust it may have, is very minor. It has had the canvas top replaced not so long ago. It has an optional oil cooler, which is recomended. All the glass including the windshield is excellent, and like new. This campmobile has all the goodies and is fully equipped. (Stove, fridge, beds etc.) My opening bids is 2250.00 with no reserve. I have a clear colorado title for it. I would much you plan for the worst, and hope for the best, than be dissapointed in anyway. Now all that having been said, I can't imagine finding a nicer or more mechanically sound, or more un-molested westy campmobile for the price. If I dont sell it as-is, I will have my mechanic service it, and get it running for me. Then re-list it that way. If you are a do it yourselfer, or handy, this bus may be for you. I honestly believe that whom ever ends up with this camper, will be very pleased with it. but those are just my thoughts. Term of sale I can not ship..... This means I can not crate, box, disassemble, or deliver to a shipping company. I will however be more than happy to assist your shipper, however I can. A $150.00 non-refundable deposit through Pay Pal is required within 48 hours of auction's end. PayPal is acceptable for the deposit only. The balance is due via bank/certified check, or cash in person within 7 days of the auctions end.
