1937 Dodge D6 Coupe Full frame off restoration Show quality throughout Excellent on the road Here up for bids on eBay is this spectacular 1937 Dodge Business Coupe. This car has been completely restored, off the frame, every nut and bolt. The quality of workmanship is evident everywhere you look, no corners were cut, this car presents extremely well. A full mechanical rebuild was undertaken as well, in addition to the drivetrain, the entire brake and fuel systems were redone with new parts, as well as all new suspension components. The car was upgraded to 12V and all new wiring was installed. All of the work done on this car is 100% complete, there are no loose ends to tie up, no areas still needing attention - this Dodge is road tested and ready for your enjoyment. If you've been looking for an all stock Mopar Business Coupe, you know that they seldom come up for sale. With just 1,880 miles since completion this Dodge is ready for touring, showing, or just simply enjoying what is likely the best 1937 D6 on the planet. Click to enlarge any of the photos below, a link to a slideshow of all the enlarged images is available at the bottom of the page. The body on this Dodge is terrific; it's all steel and arrow straight. The paintwork is also impressive, with the type of quality that only comes from a bare shell restoration. This car was completely apart, glass out, no bolt left unturned. The paintwork on this car is stunning; glass smooth and about a mile deep. I'm always hesistant to use the word "perfect" but it's awfully close. There's a couple of minor imperfections but you'd have to put your nose right up to the car in direct sunlight to see them. I'm picky about paint and can say that you will like the quality of paint on this car. The car rides on a set of Bridgestone Silvertowns from Coker, 1,880 miles from new. Wheels, hubcaps and trim rings are all excellent. The car shows terrific fit and finish, probably better than factory. Getting behind the wheel of this Dodge is about as close as you can get to going back in time to 1937 and taking delivery of a new car. The grill and headlights present as new. The photos below show the headlights in parking light mode, on regular beam the headlight lamps themselves are actually pretty bright, especially with 12V. The grills on these cars are tough to get right, this one definitely is. The fragile cloisonne emblem is in great shape. All of the stainless trim on the car is clean and crisp with no dings. All of the glass is new, all of the window seals are new. The crystal clear glass definitely adds to the new car feel. The running boards are both exceptional, these are hard to source items for this year Dodge. All of the brightwork on the car has been redone with triple plate show chrome, both bumpers are flawless. This car encourages close inspection - the more you look the more you're going to like. Business Coupes are known for their enormous trunks, this Dodge is no exception. The trunk floor underneath the mat is very nice, you can tell that this wasn't a rusty car to start with. Even the far reaches of the trunk reveal thorough attention to detail, this car was done right. Very handsome interior and a nice color complement to the exterior. Everything here has been redone, nothing was overlooked. Nicely done woodgraining from the dash to the garnish moldings. Notice the correct use of slotted screws, Phillips head screws had only recently been invented and initially just used on Cadillacs. Their inventor, by the way, was Henry Phillips of Portland Oregon. Expertly restored instrument panel, all gauges function correctly and show good readings. All pull knobs operate correctly. The beauty of this interior isn't just skin deep, even the seat frame was restored. Behind the passenger seat is where the spare is kept, behind the driver's seat are storage shelves. The car comes with restored jacking equipment, auxiliary hand crank, and tool kit. The L-Head Six in this Dodge runs like the smoothest little sewing machine you've ever heard, the drivetrain in this Dodge is dialed in. Runs down the road solid and square with all new suspension components, shifts great, brakes great and runs cool. The way this car runs and drives leaves nothing to be desired, you'll definitely be pleased. Stainless steel hardware used throughout, all rubber seals and weatherstripping are new. The cooling system has been completely gone through, the car runs cool even in stop-and-go traffic. Comprehensive mechanical restoration covering all aspects of operation. No shortcuts, nothing skipped. Great attention to detail all the way down to the Mopar spark plugs. The car carries a new wiring harness from front to rear. Very clean undercarriage, showing an originality to the sheet metal that gives a glimpse into the type of car they started with. Aside from the 12V conversion, the car also features disc brakes in front and a new polypropylene gas tank. The underside is bone dry, this car will not leak on your garage floor. The battery is a high quality Optima for quick starts. All new brake and fuel system components and lines. Slick looking finned calipers up front, the original drums can be included if the new owner wants them. I actually own a '37 Dodge D6 Coupe, not as nice as this one, that I use as a semi-daily driver. This restored example has been a treat to have around, offering lots of chances to compare and contrast between the 2 cars. Mopars from this era obviously hold an interest for me and I track this segment of the market closely. It's rare to find a restored example of this body style done to stock specifications, and rarer still to see one that exhibits this level of quality. The new owner will be acquiring a turn key example that is ready for the road, and is sure to be a unique and competitive entrant on the show field.
