Vehicle Detail

DESCRIPTIONThis is a one owner car, purchased new in 1974, and part of my parents' estate. Always garaged. The body and interior are in very good condition. But it needs some work. The car is not running as it has rust problems underneath. The fuel and brake lines are rusted through and also has a broken coil spring on the left front. Last time it was driven, 3 years ago, everything worked and engine was perfect. However it was put in storage and left to sit as my parents' health declined. We did get it started, but we can't keep it running because of the broken fuel lines. The engine did run smoothly and sounded good. We did have it at a Lincoln dealer and those are the problems they found. The vinyl top is in pretty good shape but may need some attention as a couple spots are pulling away. It is a beautiful car and needs a new owner to fix up the rusted lines and bring it back. Everything on it is original. Interior in great condition for age. There is no cracking on the dash. Headliner is in perfect, clean condition. There is some wear in the driver seat, but no big holes. The carpet and original floor mats are nice, also. The body has very little rust. Just some around vinyl roof and a couple small spots here and there. In the photo you may notice a missing piece of molding, but it is in the car and just needs to be attached. Has just under 118,000 miles, although the odometer reads 17,870 since it only has 5 digits. This is a luxurious and comfortable car - drives like you are riding on the clouds. Very quiet and powerful! The original owner's manual is in the glove box as are some maintenance records. When first in our family, my stay at home mother primarily drove it around our small town for her errands. It was also used for family trips. My father was in the trucking business and he loved and appreciated his luxury cars. He performed most maintenance himself and was fastidious about washing and waxing the vehicle. After 1986 this car was only driven for weddings and special occasions, usually in the summer. Now we are hoping to find a new owner that will bring it back to life and enjoy its beauty and smooth ride. Buyer will need to tow it. I have heard there is a market for these cars on both the west and east coast. Ideally, if someone locally were to buy it and make the necessary repairs, it could be resold for a nice profit. I know when it is running again, it could easily be driven across the country, and the owner would have an enjoyable ride. Currently, the car is located in west central Ohio. I'm selling this car "AS IS" - No Warranties Expressed or Implied. Please contact me if you have any questions about the car, payment, shipping, or you would like to see the car. I will accept certified or cashier's checks, but I cannot release the car until check clears the bank. I also use PayPal. I cannot deliver the car and buyer is responsible for transportation of vehicle and all costs involved. Thank you for looking and bidding! On Feb-29-12 at 12:19:24 PST, seller added the following information: I am getting a lot of questions about rust on the car. Please understand I don’t know anything about refurbishing old cars, but I did talk to someone who looked at the car and the following is what he told me. - The floor or frame do not appear to be rusted thru. There is a lot of heavy surface rust underneath. The rear bumper has a rusted thru spot, about a two inch split in the chrome, near the mounting bracket that goes to the frame mount. Both rear quarter panels at wheel openings, lower corners, appear to have had rust repair with body filler that is starting to blister out. (These spots are about 3 inches square.) The other rust is coming from behind the vinyl top molding. - I (the seller) counted 15 spots around the vinyl top where it meets the body of car. Some are about the size of a half dollar, most are closer to a quarter, in general. The front fenders, hood and trunk seem to be in good shape and rust free as is the passenger door. The driver door has rust along the entire bottom edge, on the inside. Also, I forgot to mention the car has a shiny new gas tank, replaced in 2007. The battery was new, Fall 2011. Will probably need a good charge after sitting. The Michelin tires have good tread, but no guarantees after sitting. Thanks again for your interest.
