Vehicle Detail
Original FIRST YEAR 1965 (sold in the US as 1966) Porsche 912 with MATCHING NUMBERS (VIN 351892, engine 832219) and Porsche certificate of authenticity. For additional photos go to http://www.vuvox.com/ebay/motors/detail/050ca74009 This December 1965 (1966 model year in the US) product of the Porsche Factory has a 4-speed transmission, 3-instrument dash, and wood steering wheel. Most of the interior is in good condition and original, including seats (with head rests) and dash vinyl (dash is close to showroom perfect). Working Blaupunkt radio with original antenna. Mats are worn, so they are covered with fitted carpet mats. The original wood steering wheel is in very good condition. Chrome is in very good condition; all but the body trim below the rear side window has been replaced with rechromed originals. Carbs areWebers with velocity stacks; the original Solex carbs, air cleaners, and manifolds are boxed and included with the car. The exterior was repainted from light ivory to yellow by the 1st owner in 1982 or 1983. The paint still looks very good with a crack in the lower part of the trunk lid and imperfect repairs near the lower corners of the back window. The trunk lid also has a small dent (doesn't show up in photos). Tires are mounted on Fuchs but I also have the original chrome wheels which are offered with the car. The chrome wheels are in fair to good condition (see photo of one of the wheels in trunk) and need re-chroming ; wheel covers are in very good condition). The car runs excellently and revs to 6000RPMs without hesitation on the road. I used the car as a driver 3 days a week in San Diego taking it well above the speed limit on the freeway daily; at 110 mph the car drove nicely. Presently, I take the car out about once a week, always including several miles on the freeway. The transmission likely needs syncro work in 1st gear. The pans are acceptable (were rusted but no penetration); the driver’s side was reinforced with fiberglass (by 2nd owner?). I cleaned the under carriage and re-undercoated in 1999. General history: This is a well maintained car. I have records showing all major and minor repair work dating back to June 1968: 1st owner through 1988, 2nd owner through 1999, and my records until present. The engine was rebuilt by the 1st owner at 136,472 miles (odometer reading 36,472, February 1979). Current odometer reading is 00935 miles (200,935). The front end and brakes were all redone in the past 10,000 miles (Koni's and ball joints in 1999, calipers rebuilt in 1999 and 2008, soft brake lines in 1999, brake pads in 2008). CV joints were cleaned, re-greased, and new axle boots in 2008. I welcome personal and/or professional inspection and will work with potential buyers to have inspections completed. I will also coordinate my schedule with the buyer’s transporter for delivery anywhere in the world. I have some experience with this: I sold two cars on eBay that went to Europe 3 years ago.
