Vehicle Detail
2000 Volvo S40 - 1.9 T - Leather - Sunroof - 113,589 Miles Strong motor and tranny - no leaks, smoking, misfire or slippage. Drives nicely too! Excellent tires and brakes. This car passes NY State Safety Inspection. However, the battery was recently replaced and the onboard computer has to reset before it will pass inspection here in New York. I drove the car 35 or so miles and it's probably going to need more driving to complete the "computer monitor cycles" and be eligible for a NY State inspection sticker. I would normally go through this ridiculous, expensive, time consuming process, but more often than not it is an exercise in futility. On a 100,000 mile Volvo, because of the possibility of a "Check Engine" light coming on, the process has to start all over again! The car has a very high idle (only 2 or 3 times since I have the car) at 2500 to 3000 rpm when cold - after a couple of blocks it goes back to normal. After 10 - 15 miles the temp gauge creeps uncomfortably past normal and just near enough to the red to make you notice it, but it does not overheat. I ran it on the parkway, in traffic and through the car wash and when I shut it off there was no sign of it running hot or overheating under the hood. I did notice one of the cooling fans was not operating. Also, once or twice it was hard to restart. Mostly it starts right back up. I would drive it home, however, due to the high mileage and potential for any possible problem, it is being sold in "As Is" condition. The body is clean - minor bumper scratches and a small crease on the passenger rear door. Interior is excellent but has some small paint speckles on a couple of spots on the interior (the owner was a painter/artist). Because this vehicle won't pass NY State inspection - New York residents are unable to bid or buy unless they are a registered car dealer, registering/re-titling the vehicle out of state or are using it for “Parts Only”. When a car is sold as “Parts Only’ or “Salvage” it must pass a NY State “Salvage Inspection”. This is done to keep rebuilt wrecks that are unsafe off the road – especially vehicles with frame damage or airbag deployment. My cars are rarely rebuildable wrecks and therefore will pass this strict inspection process when the problem that is advertised is corrected. There are about 10 to 15 NY State salvage inspection sites in NY State – 2 or 3 are on Long Island and there are a couple in NY City. Call me for further clarification. As a registered NY State dealer I am unable to sell a car that won’t pass inspection to a NY State resident. Anyone else can bid and buy. Sorry, I don’t make the rules but as a used car dealer I must abide by them. Any questions call 516-228-1016 and leave a message if I’m not in. Please don’t wait until the last day or last few hours to contact me. Please speak clearly. I will pick you up at the airport, train or bus station. Winning bidder please leave a $300.00 deposit in PayPal within 48 hours of the auction close. If I don't receive the deposit within the 48 hours I will relist the car. Please plan on picking this vehicle up within 15 days of the auction close unless you have made prior arrangements with me before bidding. If the vehicle is left after 15 days your deposit becomes non-refundable and I will relist the vehicle. All vehicles that run and drive are driven at least 10 to 20 miles and usually 30 to 40 miles. I try to describe these vehicles to the best of my 35 years of experience. Our familiarity with these autos is limited to the miles we drive them. Please be aware of this when bidding. As always, if the winning bidder is not happy after road test and examination, I will cancel the sale and refund your deposit. “A bid on eBay is considered a contract, and you're obligated to purchase the item.” Final sale price is what you pay! (New York residents must pay sales tax and inspection fee when applicable.) There are no extra hidden fees!!! Good luck and thanks for looking! On Feb-21-12 at 05:40:12 PST, seller added the following information: Because of the intermittent problem of restarting the vehicle, I would recommend shipping. On Feb-22-12 at 18:49:38 PST, seller added the following information: I started the Volvo today - ran (idled) fine for 20 minutes - before I shut it off, I hit the gas and it went up to 4500 RPM's and would not kick down. I shut it off and it did not restart. My mechanic does not "speak Volvo". Please be aware of this before bidding - car is sold in "As Is" condition.
