Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1952 Willys Jeep M38A1. This would be a great Jeep to run around on farms with, or use in parades or short trips. The engine cranks and runs fine, and the transmission shifts well. The transfer case high and low range works great as well. It has a big fuel tank that's made for a boat, but fits very nicely in the back. This Jeep also has an electric fuel pump, so fuel delivery is not a problem. I haven't taken this Jeep off-road, but on the asphalt of my driveway, the front end pops when you turn really sharp. I believe it's because of the differential lock, but I'm not sure. Also, the back tires are taller than the front, so on hard surfaces, I always keep it in 2WD. In order to be able to drive this Jeep around for long periods of time, the radiator will need to be fixed. When it gets to temperature, there is a very small split around the neck where the radiator cap screws on. It's minor enough that some radiator stop-leak would probably fix it, but that would be up to the new owner. Also, just to be stated, this Jeep has been converted to 12V. It has a newer style 12V alternator and a boat battery. None of the gauges are functioning. I'm not sure if it's due to them not working, or of they aren't hooked up. Either way, they are all there, and they aren't in too bad of condition. A new wiring harness was used for the head and tail lights, but I didn't mess with them. The headlights came on when I first got the Jeep, but I disconnected them when I hooked up the starter switch. The body was in pretty good condition before I painted it, so most of what I did was sanding and blending of the original thick paint. There is some rust, though. Both front floorboards have had metal work. Also, the battery area, the fuel tank, and the storage compartment under the passenger seat were rusty. Both areas are pretty common for these Jeeps. The driver's seat uses the original frame, but it had been welded to the floor. The passenger seat is completely fabricated (it looks kind of okay, but it functions well), and it was welded as well. Overall, this Jeep is in pretty good condition, and it still has a lot of the detail parts that are expensive to get when you are restoring one. ** Some of the pictures show the original pintle hitch, but it has been used on another Jeep. So, to be clear, IT IS NOT INCLUDED WITH THE PURCHASE OF THIS JEEP! :) ** I will be making a short YouTube video of this Jeep, with a walk-around, and a short drive. When I get it posted, I'll provide the link. If you have any questions or picture requests, just let me know. Oh, and this Jeep will be sold with a bill of sale. Thanks for bidding!darthglitter On Feb-17-12 at 14:08:16 PST, seller added the following information: I took a couple of short videos of my M38A1. I have the old military one, but it's worn. It can be included with the jeep if you want it. Thanks!
