Vehicle Detail
This is a project I bought in 2002, and never started. The previous owner received it as partial payment for a contracting job and did nothing with it. We both garaged the car the whole time we had it. I removed the plugs, and the engine turns freely. I never tried to start the car. I have the title and never transferred it to my name. I did find the owner prior to the contractor, and he provided much information: the car has not been run since 1977. He said the engine has a fresh valve job with zero miles on it. He set back the odometer to zero after the valve job. He said the frame has been repaired and reinforced. He said he had completed most of the body work. He said he sliced the back of the frame in two places to get the body tub on (see pictures). He said many of the mechanicals were new (in 1977). He said the car was VERY fast. He said all the systems except suspension had been gone through and renewed as necessary (ignition, brakes, electric, cooling). Here are my observations: The body tub has been temporarily re-mounted to the frame. Nearly all the mechanical re-assembly has been completed (engine, trans, suspension, brakes, cooling, electrics). All of the parts are there including bumpers, over-riders, window glass, chrome, small stuff. There are also many new parts in boxes, including rebuild kits for all the hydraulics, lamp lenses, and many more electric parts (see pictures). There are five wire wheels. The frame does appear to have new welds and has been repainted. The two sliced spots look as though they can be re-welded easily. The welding experts in my Triumph club confirm this. There is some surface rust and there is rust-through is at the front corner of the driver and passenger foot wells (see pictures). The bell housing has a small hole 44cut in it. I suspect the previous owner was checking out a clutch issue, which may have been failure of the tapered pin holding the throwout bearing fork to the shaft. No overdrive. This car is 44 years old, and sold AS IS. No warranty expressed or implied. Payment: Deposit of US $500.00 within 48 hours of auction close. Full payment required within 7 days of auction close.
