Vehicle Detail

We purchased the car locally about 35 years ago as a $25 basket case. It has gone through three rebuilds with the most extensive and radical a frame-off build about 20 years ago, then we stored the car 18 years ago where it has been totally ignored for the entire storage period. We just got it out of storage a couple months ago with the intent of getting it running and sell it. However, due to complications (addressed in detail below) and lack of interest in working on it, it is being offered for sale AS-IS WITH THE ENGINE REMOVED AND IN PIECES. OTHER CONDITION PROBLEMS ARE THE WINDSHIELD IS CRACKED, AND THE PAINT HAS QUITE A FEW HAIRCHECKS, CRACKS, BUBBLES AND CHIPS. THE CAR LOOKS GREAT IN PHOTOS, BUT PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS IS A PROJECT THAT NEEDS A LOT OF WORK! This car has less than 10,000 miles on it since being rebuilt about 20 years ago. (Mileage is listed here at 99,999 but is actually unknown.) Body modifications include a 2 1/2" in front and 3" in back top chop with the B-pillar angled forward Nomad-style. The rear wheelwells are openned up in the Nomad style. The front pan ends have been welded to the fenders and the original turn signals filled and moved to slits in the bumper. The front fender and hood assembly tilts forward using '70-ish GM convertible top hydraulic cylinders. The taillight bezels are '55 Chevy but the lenses are custom ones similar to '56 Buick. The gas door is filled and the fill tube moved behind the driver side taillight. The paint is candy brandywine over gold, but it is in poor condition. The interior is full custom two-tone gray in vinyl and velour, professionally done by Rick Hunt and Paul Batey Jr. of Rick's Custom Upholstery in Muscatine, Iowa. The seats are '70-something full size Buick front and rear. The front seat is a 60/40 split bench with full power on both sides. The floorpan was reshaped to better fit the seats. The tilt steering coulmn is from the same Buick, as are the front power window mechanisms. The dash is solid cherry and the gages are Stewart Warner. It also has cruise control and air conditioning, but no heater. The engine is in pieces. Details include: Early '70s four bolt main 350 block bored .030" to 355 cubes. Due to a head crack causing water leakage during storage, one cylinder is badly pitted so needs to be sleeved. The other seven cylinders show almost no wear so need just honing. Steel Chevy crankshaft. 8.2:1 forged blower pistons with stock Chevy steel rods. Competition Cams HE262 hydraulic cam and lifters. Both cylinder heads have been disposed of due to cracks, but a set of screw-in studs come with it. Chromed Hooker fenderwell headers with stainless steel 2 1/2" inlet/outlet Sonic Turbo mufflers exiting into 4" diameter sidepipes. Dyer GMC 4-71 Streetcharger blower on a Weiand intake manifold. There are two drive pulleys: The 1:1 ratio gives around 10 PSI boost and the 6% overdrive is good for about 15 PSI. Comes with a Dyer-made steel harmonic balancer, a two V-belt accessory pulley and two 2" blower drive cog-belts. Predator variable venturi (390 to 930 CFM) carburetor with brand new rebuild kit (has not been installed). Custom-made metal intake scoop with air cleaner. Includes a custom single carb adapter and a Weiand two carb adapter.Finned aluminum "Induction Engineering" two-piece valve covers. Chrome oil pan and timing cover. All engine fasteners visible from the top are polished stainless steel buttonhead Allens.Incudes oil pump, alternator, air conditioner pump, water pump, fan and all brackets and fasteners. The transmission is a TH-400 with B& M Holeshot torque converter, shift kit and chrome deep sump pan. The differential is an early Camaro 12-bolt posi with 3:31 gears and a finned aluminum inspection cover. The front brakes are early Camaro discs. The rear wheelhouses have been widened 2" and the springs moved inboard, The suspension is lowered about 2" via cut coils in the front and blocks in the rear. The car also has custom front and rear sway bars. The wheels are 14 x 6 and 15 x 8 McLean wires and the tires are P195/60R-14 and P275/60R-15 Eldorados. The tires are like new, but they are 20 years old so may not be safe. The radiator is a Walker crossflow (that has been repaired).
