Vehicle Detail
For sale here is a 1987 Toyota Supra. Originally a non-turbo car, this car was converted by me (an ASE certified technician) and a friend who road races these cars, into a turbocharged car. The swap is flawless and includes everything found on the Turbocharged option except for the rear wing. The engine was rebuilt 20K miles ago with brand new forged internals (Wiseco pistons and Eagle H-beam rods), a new gasket set, ARP bolts and a Titan Motorsports 2mm metal head gasket. This engine is built to racing specification and was machined by a reputable machine shop here in Louisville. The block was bored .020" over and the deck and head were resurfaced. Along with the metal head gasket and the ARP hardware, this combats the issue these cars had with blowing head gaskets. This engine can either be used as a high horsepower racing engine, or be driven for a long long time very reliably. All the oil has been changed every 3K miles with Castrol Syntec or Mobil 1 5w-30 and a Partsmaster Gold level filter. It has an aftermarket large capacity oil cooling system which is thermostatically controlled. Everything mechanically on the engine is less than 25K miles old. The clutch for the heavy duty R-154 manual transmission was replaced 2K miles ago with a racing 6-puck sprung disk and a heavier pressure plate with new throw-out bearing. This clutch kit was built by KY Clutch and should handle about 400HP or more. The turbocharger is a factory Toyota CT-26 and does burn a little oil. It should probably be rebuilt and upgraded to a larger compressor wheel before too long. As of now it is putting out ~15psi boost and working great, just puts out blue smoke on deceleration and heavy acceleration. The car has many performance upgrades as well, including: Lexus IS300 coils for better spark output; 550cc injectors and Lexus V8 AFM for more power (factory injectors are 440cc); 2.5" inter-cooler piping with a TurboXS RFL blow off valve, manual boost controller, Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump, and much more. The brakes pads, rotors and calipers were all replaced 20K miles ago as well, and I have installed Tein HR coilovers which provide a stiff, firm ride with great handling. The interior is in very god condition, never been smoked in. The audio system is newer with a Pioneer Premier series CD MP3 player with iPod cable. There are 4 gauges in the car in addition to the factory gauge cluster which all works; boost, oil pressure, oil temperature and air-fuel ratio. The only issues on the interior is a crack and small hole in the dash (not visible when driving), the coin holder lid in the center console wont stay down, and the center console lid cover is falling apart. Included with this car are many additional extra parts I have left over, and the Haynes repair manual for it. This car has been my daily driver for 2 years now and has never given me any issues. The only thing it absolutely needs right now is a tune on the engine. It runs and drives fine and has PLENTY of power, but needs tuning to be complete. It will make over 350HP with a good tune as it sits now, and with an upgraded turbo and adjustable fuel pressure regulator it will make well over 400 and be completely reliable the whole time. I am only selling this because it is becoming impractical for me to own.
