Vehicle Detail
1983 Saab 900S in Metallic Silver with Blue velour. This car was purchased 2/26/1983 at what was then Robert's Saab in Meriden, Connecticut, and has had only one owner. It was ordered with the following options: AM-FM Stereo Cassette, metallic paint, blue pin-striping, and rubber floor mats, bringing the total price to $15,025. It has been extremely well maintained and I have a large folder containing receipts for each service that the car has ever received, as well as all original purchase documents. It is in excellent condition and has always been garaged and very well cared for. The exterior of the car is in excellent condition. The metallic silver paint holds a very deep shine and shows no signs of fade or crazing in the finish. The car has never been in any type of accident and all of the paint is original and beautiful. There is not a speck of rust on the exterior of the car. It was never used in the winter months and has rarely seen rain. The only imperfections I can see on the exterior of the car are 3 dings, 2 of which are in the same spot on the passenger door. I cannot find any scratches or stone chips. The glass is free from pitting or chips and is in excellent condition. The chrome is bright and has no signs of fade. All rubber and plastic trim is in great shape, and not dried or cracked. The wheels are also in excellent condition; they have a deep finish and are free from any major rash or scrapes. The interior of the car is also in excellent condition. The seats are all in great shape, holding their original spring and support. The driver is petite and almost never had a passenger in the car. There was never any smoking, eating, or pets in the car and there are no odors. The car was garaged day and night which has left the interior very well preserved. The blue upholstery looks new and is a very bright blue which shows no signs of fade or turning purple. The dash has no cracks at all anywhere. The carpets are in very good condition and free from any stains or major dirt. The original optional rubber mats are still in the car and are also in very good condition. The headliner has separated in the back of the car and has been pinned; I have included a photo. The lower interior of the driver's door has about an inch of surface rust from moisture gathering on the weather strip; it is visible in the photo of the inside of the drivers door (lower left). The passenger door is fine, as is the underside, and this is the only spot anywhere on the car. All interior buttons and features are operating as they should. Mechanically, the car is perfect. It was serviced obsessively and runs like it is new. As noted, I have a receipt for each service that has ever been performed. The owner's manual, sales documentation and 4 keys (2 original/2 copies) are with the car. The car was serviced with a strong belief in preventative maintenance and was taken in at least twice per year even if the car was not used. Services were performed and components were replaced regularly due to age to keep the car in top operating condition. I would drive this car across the country without a second thought. It has had the following within the last 5k miles: full tune up (wires, cap, plugs), new battery, muffler/tailpipe, new tires, water pump, brakes, valve cover gasket, rear hatch struts (previously would not stay open), and flywheel. The car drives perfectly; straight, tight, and solid. There are no strange noises, front end issues, or leaks. This old Saab has a very classic and unique design They were imported in relatively small numbers back then and there are not many left today. It is an extremely economical and utilitarian car for those who would use it and it is in near perfect condition for those who would collect it. I would think that this is one of very few left in this rare condition with this type of mileage, if not the only one. The pictures do not do the car justice and I would be happy to show the car or answer any questions.
