1970 DATSUN 2000 FAIRLADY ROADSTER You are bidding on one of approximately 1,500 Datsun 2000 Fairlady Roadsters. "1970" was the last of the Fairlady line of cars produced by Datsun. In actuality, all 1970 Datsun 2000 Fairladys were manufactured in 1969 and titled and sold in 1970. By late 1969, Datsun Dealerships had received brochures for the completely new 1970 Datsun 240Z. The early word on the 240Z's arrival worked well to bolster interest in the new 240Z; however, it caused a slump in sales for the few remaining 1969 2000 Fairladys. I have, included in this sale, original Road & Track magazine articles. I am the third owner of this vehicle. It originated in California as I did! Frame & Body: This is a solid, original and straight car that has never suffered any frame-damage. After very carefully inspecting the vehicle before my having purchased it from the second owner, I found that very minor repair had once been made to the driver's door. The floor-boards and trunk are perfectly solid and rust free. The body is straight and original. Drive-train: Engine is strong and fast. It does not drip oil; but, it will burn less than a quart with, approximately, every 600 miles. Originally, the car would have been equipped with twin Solex carburetors. The troublesome Solex Carburetors have been replaced with Twin, progressive-linkage Webers. The 5-speed manual transmission is in perfect working order. The clutch is in very good condition and is approximately 33% through its' life. Interior: The seats and padded luggage area are original and nearly perfect. The carpet is very good (nearly new) and shows no significant signs of wear. The dashboard has been recovered and the center console has some small cracks caused by age and sun exposure. Miscellaneous: All four tires match plus full-size spare. Original tonneau top in excellent condition. Odometer reads 89k; however, the speedometer cable broke approximately 4-5,000 ago.
