Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my son's 1981 Volkswagen Diesel Pickup. I will do my best to get everything on here, but if you have any questions, don't hesitate to email me at jeff(dot)fountain(dot)financial@gmail.com. I will answer any questions you may have. Remember, there is no reserve on this listing. We bought this truck a little over a year ago from a local mechanic. We have driven it less than 1,000 miles since the purchase. The truck starts, runs, and drives great. It would make anyone a great daily driver - especially given the cost of fuel recently. When we bought the truck, the mechanic told us that he had received the truck from an older gentleman who had rebuilt the engine very recently. After the purchase, I called the grandson of this man, and he didn't have a whole lot to say, other than his grandfather (who lived in Oregon) had recently rebuilt the motor. That's about all he knew, so I didn't pursue the issue. I have no reason to doubt this, as stated, the motor runs along just fine. The truck was installed (at the time of the diesel engine rebuild) with a 5- speed. We have never checked the fuel mileage, but I would think it gets substantially better with the five-speed than with the four-speed. Here are some things that are wrong with the truck. First, this summer, if you'll look at the pictures you see a couple of dents on the top of the edge of the hood. Also, there's a crease on the right front fender. The heater doesn't work. The A/C doesn't work, although it was originally equipped. The paint job, although fairly new, is not good. There are runs and fades and "orange peel" on various parts. Some you can see from the pictures. Some, you can't. The drivers-side vent window is duct-taped in. The door-handles are a little sticky. There has been some body work on the truck, particularly above the driver's side door. I have taken pictures there to help identify. Finally, the truck has the normal scratches and dings and cracks - all normal for a vehicle of its age. Again, please don't hesitate to email jeff(dot)fountain(dot)financial@gmail.com with any other questions. I'll be more than glad to help with anything I can.
